President Jonathan To Buy New Executive Jet

That is what Sahara Reporters is reporting...

President Goodluck Jonathan wants to ride yet another new aircraft, and he has asked the National Assembly to approve the purchase. The request is part of the 2015 budget presented to the National Assembly in Abuja last week by the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. It will be the fourth such purchase since he took office in 2010.

To make the acquisition of the gleaming new toy fit for the electoral stomp an attractive proposition, the presidency will trade in one of the planes currently in the presidential fleet.  But the purchase will still gulp N400 million as deposit to the manufacturer.

"I heard you saying that you are planning a ‘Hall of Fame.’ I think we should start thinking of having a hall of shame, where the names of criminals would be written. This will serve as a deterrent to those who may want to indulge in criminal activities, as they would not want to soil their family names,” he said

Beyonce cut her dad from her life a few years ago after claiming mismanagement but it was mostly because Matthew Knowles hurt her mum by cheating with multiple women. Matthew, who used to be Destinys Child/Beyonce and Solange's manager, and was very instrumental to Beyonce's success, was so removed from Beyonce and her sister's lives that he wasn't even invited to Solange's wedding.

He's now so broke, that he's been reduced to making ends meet by selling tons of Beyonce, Destinys Child and Solange's souvenir in a garage sale outside his Houston office.

According to TMZ, he's selling this giant Beyonce poster for $200, old tour books for $20, a Solange CD for $1.96 and various pieces of House of Dereon clothing. He's also selling office furniture. This is the 18 year old young man who was shot dead yesterday Dec. 23rd by a police officer at a gas station not far from where Michael Brown was killed in Ferguson, Missouri. But the police say this is a totally different case because Antonio Martin had a gun and pointed it at 34yr old unnamed officer, who pulled out his own gun and shot three times, killing Antonio.

A few weeks ago, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, announced a nearly 10% devaluation of the Naira, Nigeria’s currency, after admitting that a plunge in world oil prices and dwindling dollar reserves were making it difficult to defend the value of the currency. The Naira is now trading at N187 to $1, compared to N165 in November. In dollar terms, the devaluation has knocked more than $40 billion off the value of Nigeria’s economy.

Dangote is the biggest loser among Nigeria’s richest people as the Naira’s slump, coupled with falling stock prices, has erased more than $7.8b of his fortune since Feb, when Forbes locked in the values for its annual ranking of the World’s Billionaires.

The Kano state Police command today Dec. 24th arrested a 13 year old girl identified as Zahra'u Babban Gida who was found with explosives strapped on her body opposite the Kantin-Kwari textile market, same place where two female suicide bombers detonated bombs two weeks ago killing many.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police Alhaji Tashid Aderile Shinaba said she was arrested by police officers who found her moves suspicious. When interrogated, the young girl said her father was the one who took her to the people who strapped her with the bombs.

Baby crushed to death by truck after falling off mum’s back in Delta state

A truck, conveying crates of soft drinks, yesterday, at the Okorodafe Roundabout in Ughelli, Delta State, crushed a four-month-old baby girl, who had fallen off the back of her mother travelling on a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as Okada.

According to witnesses, the mother of the baby, who is in her 30s and simply identified as Ese, was said to have been struggling to adjust the wrapper with which she strapped the baby to her back, while the Okada was in motion.

Former US President, George Bush hospitalized with breathing difficulties

Former President George H.W. Bush has been admitted last night at a Houston hospital after experiencing a shortness of breath. Bush, who is now 90, was rushed to Houston Methodist Hospital by an ambulance, when it became intensive.

It will be recalled that, Bush also spent about two months at the same hospital last year. President Obama who is currently holidaying at Hawaii has been notified.

Armed black teen killed by white police officer in St. Louis

18 year old Antonio Martin was killed outside a gas station in Berkeley, Missouri, about 2 miles west of Ferguson yesterday Dec. 23rd

An outraged crowd of about 60 people gathered behind police crime scene tape early Wednesday morning as the body of Antonio Martin, 18, lay in the parking lot in front of the Mobil on North Hanley Rd for more than two hours, according to eyewitness reports.

Police allege that Martin drew a handgun on the officer as he approached during a routine patrol. Witnesses saw a weapon at the scene next to the body.

ISIS storms Nigeria to Recruit Fighters - FG

The Federal Government has raised alarm over the presence of some agents of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, in Nigeria to recruit more fighters into their fold. The National Coordinator, National Information Centre and Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mike Omeri made this known in a statement signed by his Special Adviser, David Akoji yesterday Dec. 23.

Omeri said that intelligence information gathered by Security officials show that three South African nationals disguising as humanitarian workers are currently in the country to facilitate the recruitment of some Nigerians into the islamic terror group. He appealed to Nigerians to be vigilant and report humanitarian workers with suspicious motives
