Well, it’s a great pleasure to welcome President Buhari and his delegation here to the Oval Office for his first visit since the historic election that took place. Nigeria is obviously one of the important countries in the world and one of the most important countries in the African continent. Recently, we saw an election in which a peaceful transition to a new government took place.
And it was an affirmation of Nigeria’s commitment to democracy, a recognition that although Nigeria is a big country and a diverse country with many different parts, nevertheless the people of Nigeria understand that only through a peaceful political process can change take place.

Disgraced FIFA president Sepp Blatter was sensationally showered with fake dollar notes by British comedian Simon Brodkin who gatecrashed his press conference in Zurich this afternoon.

Simon, who also goes by the name, Jason Bent & Lee Nelson, who is a well known prankster, walked up to Blatter's position behind a table at the front of the stage and placed a sum of money on the table and said: ‘This is for North Korea 2026’, before throwing the money into the air, which rained down on Blatter. "We will make Boko Haram beg for peace" - Chief of Army Staff

The Chief of Army staff, Maj. Gen Tukur Buratai says Boko Haram will either beg for peace or face the full wrath of Nigerian soldiers. He said this will addressing Nigerian troops stationed in Borno state yesterday July 19th. According to Maj Buratai, the operational name of the troops in Borno state will now be changed from “Operation Zaman Lafiya” to 'Operation Zaman Lafiya Dole' which in Hausa language means ‘the quest for peace becomes a must’.

Federal government bars 113 vessels from lifting oil in Nigeria

The Federal government has barred 113 vessels from lifting oil in the 27 oil terminals in Nigeria. The Federal government's directive is contained in a memo sent out by NNPC on July 15th to owners of the affected vessels.

According to Sahara Reporters, the 113 vessels were reportedly involved in a systematic oil theft which was recently discovered by the Federal government. The vessels were also barred from operating within Nigeria's territorial waters.

Veteran actress Joke Silva loses mum

Dr Marienne Abimbola Silva, the mother of  Joke Silva has died. She died peacefully yesterday morning July 19th. She was 89 years old.

Dr Silva was the third female doctor in Nigeria but the first Nigerian female to bag a medical degree. She became an OON (Officer of the Order of the Niger) in 1979.

She's survived by her children and grandchildren. May her soul rest in peace...Amen.

Former police chiefs disagree over Buhari’s security following incident at Eid praying ground

Retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Adebayo Adeoye, has called for the immediate restoration of the Department of State Services personnel to the Presidential Villa to provide close protection for President Buhari.

The former DIG says the use of soldiers as presidential guards could expose Buhari to danger and jeopardize his life.

Man found dead in actress Demi Moore's swimming pool

A man was found dead in Demi Moore's swimming pool last night, Saturday July 18th. Police say a 21-year-old man apparently drowned in the swimming pool and his body was discovered early Sunday morning at the bottom of the pool.

It was learnt that there was a party at the house but Demi was not there because she's currently out of town and according to the Police, none of Demi Moore's family was present.

A neighbor, however, says Demi's kids have been staying at the house for weeks and have been throwing "parties every day, day and night."  She says there are frequent pool parties but none of her kids was present at yesterday's party.

The Emir who was a guest at the event tagged Hawan Nassarawa, which was held to mark the end of eid-el-fitri festivities and allow political leaders in the state reveal their programmes and policy statements to the traditional leaders, was overwhelmed by his feelings as he spoke about the current state of Nigeria. He reminded Nigerian leaders at all levels that a day will come when they will meet God and account for the power that was bestowed on them.
