Osaze Odemwingie wants to return to Super Eagles for 2018 World cup before he retires - Rotherham coach

Rotherham United head coach Kenny Jackett who revealed on Monday that Nigeria star Osaze Odemwingie has been signed by the club on a short term deal has said that the former West Brom and Stoke city attacker plans to participate with the Super Eagles in Russia 2018 before retiring from the game on a high.

Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers NUPENG, Igwe Achese, today disclosed that oil giant, Chevron, has folded up in the Eastern part of the country, leaving 1500 people out of jobs without entitlements.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah says the President Buhari-led administration will surprise Nigerians in 2017 with the level of growth that will be visible in all sectors of the economy.

President Buhari’s nominee for NERC chairman reportedly turns down offer, says he wasn't consulted

President Muhammadu Buhari's nominee for chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Prof. Akintunde Akinwande, has reportedly turned down his nomination. Akinwande who was billed to appear before the senate for screening and confirmation yesterday, failed to show up.

A source who spoke to the Nation said Akinwande turned down the nomination “because he was not consulted before the nomination was made”.

Femi Fani-Kayode reportedly slumped in EFCC custody over the weekend. Although the anti-graft Agency have since denied that such happened, FFK's media aide & wife, Precious Chikwendu insist that it's true.

"Its very clear they want FFK dead at all cost. He is a man that would never give you the pleasure of seeing him down so saying he isn't ill or never slumped on Saturday is just a way of trying to deny him medical attention. Prophet Ade Okeowo of Word of Liberty Evangelical Ministry, Ikorodu, Lagos, said that God revealed to him that prices of commodities will crash in no time.

Widow of the First Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alameisegha, Magareth Alameiseigha, on Monday alleged that the treatment meted on her husband by his political party, PDP led to his sudden death in October last year. Speaking at his 1 year memorial service in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state, Mrs Alameiseigha said the killing of her husband started with his removal from office, arrest, trial and confiscation of his properties under the leadership of the PDP. Former Nigerian Super Eagles World Cup star, Efetobore Sodje and his brothers have been charged with fraud offences after an investigation by the National Crime Agency, UK.

Efetobore Sodje, 34, Bright Sodje, 50, Samuel Sodje, 37, and Stephen Sodje, 42, were charged with fraudulent trading on Friday 21 October and bailed until 14 November 2016, when they will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Donald Trump on Monday told a crowd of supporters in Florida that he is in the leading the White House race in polls, telling them to forget reports by the main stream media such as CNN who in a recent poll said Clinton was passing Trump by 5% among likely voters.

"Some great polls have just come out. I believe we're actually winning," Trump said, while slamming the mainstream media.

As part of efforts to address the alleged corrupt practices of some judges in the judiciary, the National Judicial Council, NJC, yesterday issued a directive to all judges presiding in “sensitive and highly visible trials such as election petition proceedings” to declare their assets before they begin proceedings on such cases and immediately after they give judgement on such cases.

This directive will be reflected in the new code of conduct for judicial officers which is currently being reviewed by a 10-man Judicial Ethics Committee set up by NJC.

NNPC: Sale of petrol at N145 per litre is no longer sustainable

The Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Department of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, has said that the sale of petrol at N145 per litre is no longer sustaining due to the current economic recession. Kyari stated this while speaking at the 10th Oil Trading and Logistics Africa Downstream Week in Lagos.

While responding to questions after his lecture at Oxford University yesterday, Former President Goodluck Jonathan, said he does not believe Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, can "steal" $2.2 billion as he is being accused of by the EFCC. Responding to a question on Dasuki, Jonathan said

“They said the National Security Adviser stole $2.2billion. I don’t believe somebody can just steal $2.2 billion. We bought warships, we bought aircraft, we bought lots of weapons for the army and so on and so forth and you are still saying 2.2 billion, so where did we get the money to buy all those things?

When Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was rearrested on Friday, 21st of October, 2016, in the premises of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, we raised a number of issues which included that the re-arrest was not only unnecessary but that it was also reckless.

Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Monday spoke at the Oxford Union, succeeding US Secretary of State, John Kerry, who spoke at the same event in May this year.
Speaking on the theme 'Fostering Youth Entrepreneurship, Dr. Jonathan, whose speech was streamed live, said:

"I once said that I was not elected President of Nigeria to spread poverty, I was elected to generate and spread wealth." 'My belief in this regard is that getting a job or being a worker cannot completely cure the disease of poverty. It is only your own business that can provide such security and give you the financial freedom you need to prosper."
