Tochi Vera Ekezie, a 23 year-old corps member who did her traditional marriage on 22nd December, 2016 died few hours after giving birth. According to her friend, Nikiru who shared the story on Facebook, the lady complained of severe pain after she was injected during labour. She later died. Sad! May her soul rest in peace...Amen. 'President Trump's administration, alongside China, Russia, terrorism and radical Islam is a threat to us' - European Union

The president of the European Union, Donald Tusk, has classified Donald Trump's new administration as a threat to the European Union alongside Vladmir Putin's Russia, China, Terrorism and radical Islam.

In a letter sent to European leaders on Tuesday, Tusk wrote that factors such as Trump's ban on immigration, increased friendliness with Vladmir Putin, publicly blasting NATO and “worrying declarations by the new American administration all make our future highly unpredictable.”

Photos: 41 Nigerians deported from the UK arrive Lagos Airport

As earlier reported, some Nigerians are expected to arrive in the country today following their deportation from the UK, due to immigration related offences. The deportees arrived at the cargo terminal of Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Ikeja in an unmarked charter plane which touched ground at exactly 7:40 a.m.

Officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Aviation security personnel received the 41 deportees (33 males and 8 females)

$15m: Court throws out Patience Jonathan's lawsuit against anti-corruption SERAP, NGO

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has struck out the suit filed by Former first lady, Patience Jonathan, against anti-corruption organization, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project SERAP, over allegations of "vilification and breach of human rights".

Mrs Jonathan filed the suit in October last year after the group petitioned the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, calling for the prosecution of Mrs Jonathan after $15 million was found in four controversial accounts which she laid claim to.

Married policeman breaks woman’s jaw for not telling him girlfriend’s whereabouts

A 30-year-old woman, Oluchukwu Ezemaduka, is currently battling with a damaged jaw at a private hospital, West Care Specialist Hospital in Akowonjo, Lagos, after she was allegedly battered by a riot policeman, Idiahgbe Iyobosa.

Iyobosa, who is attached to a bank in the FESTAC Town, was said to have repeatedly hit the woman in the jaw with his service boots until blood gushed out.

Ex-minister of FCT, Bala Mohammed's son paid N1b cash for land, four houses - EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes commission have alleged that Shamsudeen Mohammed, the son of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Bala Mohammed, of paying N1 billion cash for a land and four houses while his father was still in office.

According to the Nation, Shamsudeen who will be arraigned in court today February 1st, paid cash for five plots of land and four properties in highbrow areas of Abuja to avoid any suspicion by banks and other monitoring agencies.

One of the largest hospitals in the country is chasing a bill of more than £500,000 from a Nigerian woman who gave birth to quadruplets. The 43-year-old, named only as Priscilla, went into labour three months early shortly after landing at Heathrow airport in November.

She had intended to give birth to the babies in Chicago, in the US, where she has family – but was turned away by border officials upon arrival.

Four men rape 11 year old secondary school student in Ibadan

11-Year Old Four suspects have been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for allegedly raping an 11-year-old secondary school pupil in the NNPC area of Ibadan. It was learnt that the girl was raped on Saturday by the men while hawking detergent for her mother. It was learnt that two men on a commercial motorcycle had approached the victim and told her that they wanted to buy three sachets of the product, which cost N50 each.

Britain deports 83 Nigerians, some to continue prison terms here

No fewer than 83 Nigerians are expected to arrive in the country today following their deportation from the United Kingdom. Among those to be deported were residents whose documents had expired and prisoners whose terms of imprisonment were nearing completion, Punch reports.

The spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency, South-West Zone, Ibrahim Farinloye, said the deportees were expected to be in the country at 5am.
