Former Super Eagles player, Efe Sodje and his brothers charged with fraud in the UK (photos)

Former Nigerian Super Eagles World Cup star, Efetobore Sodje and his brothers have been charged with fraud offences after an investigation by the National Crime Agency, UK.

Efetobore Sodje, 34, Bright Sodje, 50, Samuel Sodje, 37, and Stephen Sodje, 42, were charged with fraudulent trading on Friday 21 October and bailed until 14 November 2016, when they will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court.

The four were arrested on 13 July after a three-year NCA investigation into 'alleged irregularities' at the Sodje Sports Foundation. Registered on March 1, 2010 and disbanded on January 2015.

The charity organization is supposedly aimed to relieve poverty, advance good health in people through the provision of facilities in playing amateur sports and the promotion of lifelong learning, leadership skills and health issues such as HIV/AIDS, drugs abuse, and nutrition,. but the NCA is accusing them of  using it for other unrelated purposes.
Born in England, Efetobore played in the defence for the Super Eagles at the 2000 African Cup of Nations, and the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan. He played for clubs such as Hudderfield Town, Southend United, Crewe Alexandra and Macclesfield Town.
