Lil Wayne hospitalized for another seizure; says he's an epileptic

According to TMZ, rapper Lil Wayne was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in L.A on Tuesday night after suffering another seizure. He was treated and released yesterday morning.

Wayne then did a radio interview yesterday afternoon and explained he's an epileptic, and has been suffering from seizures since he was a kid.

Chris Kelly, member of 90s rap duo, Kris Kross, dies at 34

Chris Kelly, (pictured left in both photos) a member of the famous 90's rap group, Kris Kross, has died. He was 34 years old. Chris, also known as Mac Daddy, was found unconscious in his Atlanta home yesterday afternoon and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. A police spokeswoman said it appears it may have been a possible drug overdose. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Three student athletes, including a Nigerian, face rape, other charges

 Tevin Mgbo, Malcolm Frank and Chukwudi Ndudikwa

Three Morehouse College (Atlanta, USA) athletes have been accused of rape and other charges. Chukwudi Ndudikwa and Malcolm Frank face rape and aggravated sodomy charges. Tevin Mgbo is looking at charges of aggravated sodomy, kidnapping and reckless conduct. According to court documents the incident involving those three suspects happened March 8 at the East Suites.
The victim told police there was a party celebrating Spring Break and then they went to a club.
The victim says she admits drinking some alcohol but says she did not use drugs, and does not remember much of what happened at the club or afterward.

Gov Okorocha gives N200k to the driver that hit him

Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha returned to the state yesterday after about a week in a UK hospital where he went for treatment following the April 19th car accident he was involved in on Orlu-Owerri Road in Imo State.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz that rammed into the governor’s car, Mr Osita Nnewuihe, was given N200, 000 yesterday by Okorocha to repair his damaged car. Mr Nnewuihe had been arrested and detained by the police for about a week before he was released on the governor's orders.

DELSU student hacks into governor Uduaghan’s phone,orders VC to upgrade his scores

A 400-level medical student of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, in Delta State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly hacking into Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s phone.
The student, who failed in pharmacology and pathology course  sent a text message, purportedly from the governor, to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Eric Arubayi, requesting him to upgrade his scores.

Vanguard gathered that enraged Govenor Uduaghan asked the vice chancellor to report the matter to the police and ensure the student was arrested when the matter was brought to his knowledge, as he never sent such message.

Baga raid: Satellite images shows massive destruction from military

Satellite images released yesterday by Human Right Watch reveal massive destruction of homes from a military raid on the town of Baga in Borno State on Tuesday and Wednesday April 16 and 17, 2013. At least 180 people were killed in the raid. (If you missed it, read the story HERE)

Baga residents told Human Rights Watch that soldiers ransacked the town after Boko Haram members attacked a military patrol, killing a soldier. Community leaders said that immediately after the attack they counted 2,000 burned homes and 183 bodies. Satellite images of the town analyzed by Human Rights Watch corroborate these accounts and identify 2,275 destroyed buildings, the vast majority likely residences, with another 125 severely damaged.

Stanbic IBTC sacks 250, Visafone sacks 60 workers

Why are Nigeria companies laying off staff? Yesterday April 30th Visafone fired over 60 of their staff nationwide. Stanbic IBTC also sacked 250 of their staff. The sack takes effect from today May 1st.

The Stanbic IBTC sack yesterday crossed across all levels, from management to lower level staff and they said this is just the first batch. The bank is planning to do another round later this year.

The sack at Stanbic yesterday only affected full staff employees as the bank intends to make its workforce 20% permanent staff and 80% contract staff. The total workforce before the sack yesterday was about 3000. The sad part is there are so many fresh graduates in the job market...and no jobs!
