Senate, House of Rep to begin debate on PIB next week - Bukola Saraki
The Senate and the House of Representatives will commence debate of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) as from next week. Senate President, Bukola Saraki said this in Abuja at a Business Environment Roundtable on the economy hosted by the National Assembly yesterday March 21st. Saraki said this has become necessarily to gain speed in the consideration and passage of the PIB and to prevent dissipation of time, energy and scarce resources that was prevalent in the past.

At least one person has been confirmed dead after multiple explosions rocked the departure hall of the Zaventem airport in Brussels, Belgium this morning. According to Reuters, the explosions occurred close to the American Airlines Check-in desk. Gunshots were fired while some Islamic words were heard before the explosions took place. No planes are landing at Brussels Airport which is currently on lockdown, and planes due for landing are being diverted.

Man arrested for stealing 7-month-old baby in Lagos State
26 year old Happiness Umaru, has been arrested by the Lagos state police command for allegedly stealing a 7 month old baby at the Ijora area of Lagos state on March 16th.
According to a report by Vanguard, Umaru was intercepted by some police officers patrolling Eric Moore road Surulere. When he was questioned, Umaru first lied that he was the father of the boy but after much interrogation, he confessed to have picked up the baby inside a bush at Ijora Railway where he had gone to answer the call of nature.

UK soldier takes to social media to complain about the food they are being served at military bases
British soldiers are fed up with the food they are being served at military bases in the country by civilian contractors to the Military of Defence. One soldier posted an open letter to the Army hierarchy on social media, complaining about food served by private firm Sodexo. He wrote:
“Would you feed a homeless person undercooked or raw chicken? Would you serve it to a paying customer in a restaurant? Would you feed it to your kids for their dinner? I would like to think the answer to these questions is no, of course not. So why is the answer yes to serving soldiers paying for these meals?

President Buhari orders immediate payment of December salaries
Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the immediate payment of December salaries to all Federal civil servants. His directive made known by the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, who spoke at the end of the monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meeting in Abuja yesterday Dec. 22nd. She said salaries were already being paid in response to the Presidential directive.
“We are very conscious of the need that people are paid in time for the festive season,” she said. Adeosun added that some workers have already started receiving alerts for their December salary.
