Producer of IJE set to record another milestone with DVD sales

For Chineze Anyaene (pictured above left), the director and producer of the highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time at the cinema, IJE, it is time to record another milestone as the movie hits the DVD market from Monday, December 3, 2012.

IJE showed for several weeks at the cinema in year 2010 and made well over N70m on that platform and was only beaten by the Hollywood flick, Avengers (in 2012), it was not surprising when the much talked about movie out- sold highly rated Hollywood flicks, Avatar, Salt, Spiderman and others.

6men shot dead & dragged through the streets of Gaza for being spies

Six men accused of being 'Israeli spies' were dragged through the streets of Gaza City and executed in front of a chanting mob today as Israel warned Palestinians to evacuate some areas of the territory in apparent preparation for a ground invasion. Witnesses said the six were taken to an intersection in the north of the city where they were summarily shot for providing intelligence that helped Israel pinpoint key figures in Hamas and the Islamic Jihad targeted by their warplanes. Private jets: CAN slams Kukah, Bakare over comments

Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has condemned comments credited to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah and Pastor Tunde Bakare, who claimed that acquisition of private jets by religious leaders diminishes moral voices of the church in the war against corruption and are therefore calling for a revolution in the Church of God.

President Jonathan's younger brother dies on his birthday

The younger half brother of president Goodluck Jonathan has died. Meni Jonathan  (pictured above) died today November 20th (the president's birthday) at the State House clinic in Abuja.

Meni, who was said to be in his late 40s, was flown in from Bayelsa last week to receive treatment at the Aso Rock Clinic for an undisclosed ailment he had been battling with for a few months now.

Mena, until his death was the chairman traditional council of chiefs  in Otuoke community of Bayelsa State. The president is yet to officially react to his brother's death. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

There was some turbulence of a different kind onboard Rihanna’s 777 tour. Somewhere between Berlin and London Monday morning, an Australian shock jock streaked through the cabin of the Boeing 777 that had been ferrying the “Diamonds” singer, contest winners and journalists on a chaotic seven-day, seven-country promotional tour. The media members among the hundreds of passengers had already been fuming over their complete lack of access to the singer during the tour. Around 3:30 a.m., the crowd started chanting, "Save Our Jobs, Save Our Jobs," according to E! News. That’s when the streaker - an Australian radio show personality who had angered his peers earlier by playing the harmonica - ran down the aisle completely naked. Soldier filmed colleagues killing captives in Maiduguri - Reuters

International news agency, REUTERS, on Sunday reported  that it was in possession of an amateur video showing Nigerian soldiers shooting unarmed captives in broad daylight in Maiduguri,  Borno State.

It said the video was sent to it by a soldier,  who claimed to have witnessed the shooting. Reuters quoted the unnamed soldiers as saying that he was present when the soldiers shot the captives about two weeks ago. (Punch)

New born baby kidnapped from labour room in Abia State

Gunmen invaded the labour room of a maternity home in Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu, in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State and took away a new born baby while nurses were battling to save the mother from bleeding to death.

The baby, a boy, was still dripping with blood when the evil men seized and folded him with the bed sheet in which he was lying.
