St Helena opens 'the world's most useless airport'

St Helena international airport dubbed the “most useless airport” in the world by the British media is to receive its first commercial airline flight today. The remote British island of St Helena is a volcanic tropical island in the South Atlantic Ocean,

Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has spoken on the condemnation of Aso Rock clinic by wife of the president, Aisha Buhari.

Aisha had on Monday said despite a budget of N3bn the clinic had no syringes, drugs and a functional X-ray machine. In a chat with Punch, the minister said he was not aware of the “huge allocation” to the ministry.

President Buhari has expressed delight at the mutually beneficial cooperation that exists between Nigeria and China.

In a letter of felicitation with His Excellency, President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, on the occasion of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President Buhari lauded China for "becoming an indispensable force in the comity of nations." Almost two months after he returned to the country from his medical trip to London, United Kingdom, President Muhammadu Buhari has yet to return to his office inside the Presidential Villa, Abuja. But the Presidency says the situation has not in any way hindered the President from performing his duties.

In the wake of the Atomic Junction gas explosion, the construction of petrol/diesel and LPG filling points, is to cease immediately until further notice, the Ghanaian government has stated. This directive formed part of nine safety measures outlined by the Presidency after a cabinet meeting.

A statement from the government noted that, President Nana Akufo-Addo has ordered the “immediate cessation, until further notice, of all construction of facilities intended for use as gas or petroleum retail stations.”

Police arrest drunk man in Lagos who forgot his car at a beer parlor but raised false alarm that it was stolen

Officials of the Lagos state police Rapid Response Squad last Friday arrested one Jude, a resident of Anthony Village, who drank himself to stupor, forgot his car at a beer parlour and went home.
At about 3.30am the next day, he went to the police station to report that his car had been stolen from his residence. The police during its investigations, recovered the car where it was parked few meters away from the beer parlour.

All items in the car were still intact. He was detained briefly and counselled before he was allowed to go.

Rapper, Nelly's rape accuser says she wants the case dropped

The woman who accused rapper, Nelly of rape, has refused to testify against him in court and has asked for the case to be dropped. Her lawyer, Karen Khoeler says that her client asked for the case to be dropped because she feels the system has failed her and that she thinks because Nelly is a celebrity, nothing will work in her favour.

In a letter dated Friday, the woman's attorney said she regretted calling 911 and reporting that the rapper had raped her on his tour bus after a concert in Auburn, Washington, on Oct. 7.

Yesterday, mixed reactions trailed President Buhari's request for the world bank to focus its humanitarian and developmental activities in the Northeast. World Bank president, Jim Yong Kim, at a press conference in the US on Thursday disclosed that at their first meeting, President Buhari made a requested that the world bank should focus on the Northeast. Mixed reactions trailed this revelation with some people accusing President Buhari of tribalism, segregation and nepotism.

A Federal High Court sitting in Kainji, Niger State, has sentenced 45 Boko Haram members to between 3 and 31 years in jail, and also freed 468 suspects. The jailed men were among the 575 Boko Haram suspects arraigned under the first phase of the mass trial of the suspects.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the Kainji court also struck out 34 cases while 28 suspects were remanded for trial in Abuja and Minna.

Singer, Marc Anthony has had over $2.5 million stolen from his personal bank accounts by an employee at a New York accounting firm.

Kyle Tessiero allegedly used Anthony's American Express for purchases over the last eight years and then paid off the credit card with the 49-year-old singer's bank account funds. The illegal activity allegedly started in 2009 and carried on through this year, reports TMZ, and Anthony was completely unaware of it until recently Tessiero started at the firm in 2007 and apparently had instant access to Anthony's bank accounts and credit cards.
