Baby born with heart outside body

A newborn girl born with her heart outside her chest survived a high-risk surgery and doctors are “very optimistic” about her chances for a long, healthy life. Audrina Cardenes was recovering at Texas Children's Hospital after being born five weeks earlier with a rare and normally fatal condition called ectopia cordis. According to the hospital’s official blog, the condition is where a baby’s heart is located either partially or totally outside the chest.

Building collapses in Lagos killing two sisters

A medical doctor, Bukky Coker and her sister, Toyin, a university graduate, were killed in their sleep on Wednesday in another building collapse in Lagos.

They were occupants of Block M20 at the Low Cost Housing Estate, Oke-Afa, Isolo.

It was learnt that initially the neighbours did not know that the woman’s daughters were under the rubble as she had told the rescuers after she was brought out wounded that she was not sure her daughters came home the previous night after a church service in Isolo. 

Rafael Benitez appointed new Chelsea coach

The 52-year-old takes charge of the European champions on an interim basis until the end of the current campaign after spending almost two years out of work following his dismissal at Inter.A statement on the club's official website read: "The owner and the Board believe that in Benitez we have a manager with significant experience at the highest level of football, who can come in and immediately help deliver our objectives.

"The 52-year-old Spaniard is due to meet the players at the training ground in Cobham today [Thursday]."

he Anambra State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, threw its weight behind the clamour for the creation of Orimili State out of the present Anambra.

Passing the motion sponsored by Hon. Tony One week Muonagor and seconded by Emeka Idu, the House urged Governor Peter Obi, National Assembly members from the state, and Anambra indigenes within and outside the country to support the demand for the new state.

Morientez is a Nigeria Born artiste, who started his musical journey by singing in a church choir at age 7. A graduate of chemistry from the University of Benin, he has performed in churches, clubs, competitions and several events.

Bi-Courtnery boss Wale Babalakin arrested for laundering N2billion

The Chief Executive Officer of Bi-Courtney Ltd, Wale Babalakin, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was alleged to have helped in facilitating the siphoning about N2 billion belonging to Delta State on behalf of former Governor James Ibori. 

This is coming a few days after a concessionary agreement between Bi- Courtney and federal government on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway was terminated by government. EFCC sources in Abuja confirmed that the charges were filed against Babalakin today at a Lagos High Court in Ikeja (Daily Times)

Monalisa Chinda's ex-husband's second marriage crashes

According to sources in the know, the second (or third) marriage of Segun Dejo Richards has crashed. Monalisa Chinda's ex husband remarried in January 2011 less than two years after his marriage to the actress ended due to accusations of infidelity and domestic abuse. Dejo married Louisiana - US based Lamide Richards less than a year after he met her while she was on vacation in Nigeria. Less than two years later, Lamide's friends say she's separated from Dejo and is planning to officially divorce him soon.

This would be Dejo's 3rd failed marriage as it was reported a few years back that he was married for six months before getting married to the Monalisa Chinda.

Eku: Having a twin made school very easy. We were a team, no one bullied us. We had lots of friends and we only ever needed each other.

Kessy: It's alway been welcome company. I had Georgina, (Eku) and wherever she is, I'm home really. I find it hard now with her being so far away. She understands like no other. 

Eku: I used to get irritated when people didn't make an effort to differentiate us. I thought it was lazy as were were not identical; we do have clear differences. I don't mind anymore as I enjoy when people get confused.

International Chinese movie star Jackie Chan has been a success for decades, leading to a fortune estimated at $130 million. And his son, Jaycee, will see none of it.
Jackie Chan, who will next be seen in Chinese Zodiac, recently announced that he will donate all of his wealth to charity and none to his only child. Chan made the announcement when questioned in Beijing.
Jackie Chan originally intended to split his estate down the middle — half to his family and half to charity. Now Jaycee, who grew up with his father’s wealth, is on the outside looking in, with the older Chan saying his son should be capable of earning his own money.
The younger Chan has attempted to launch singing and acting careers. He has appeared in more than 20 movies, most of them flops. His 2012 effort, Double Trouble, is regarded as one of the biggest movie busts in history, earning less than $10,000.

Hostel at College of Medicine Idi-Araba gutted by fire this morning

 One of the hostels at Medical School LUTH, block 6, was gutted by fire around 9am this morning. No lives were lost but properties and other valuables were destroyed in the inferno that lasted for over an hour before it was put out by the fire service. Cause of the fire is still unknown.
