President Jonathan comes under fire for Christmas message

I want to seize this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a merry Christmas and a happy New Year in advance. I feel the pains of Nigerians and that is why this Yuletide I have personally instructed that our roads be worked on to enable you and your loved ones to travel safely for the holidays. Not done, we ensured that for the first time in decades, the cross country services (Lagos to Kano with stops in cities along the route) of the Nigerian Railway Corporation  were revived just prior to the holidays to provide Nigerian masses with an inexpensive alternative to road and air transportation.

Pro-gun supporters in America want Piers Morgan deported

 

Pro-Gun activists in the US want outspoken CNN host and British national, Piers Morgan, deported from the country following anti-gun comments he made in the wake of the Newtown tragedy.

Close to 70, 000 people have signed the petition demanding that Piers be deported immediately because according to them 'He is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. And also for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.'

Fortunately for Piers, millions of Americans are behind him and support the ban of assault weapons.

Massive explosion at Jankara market this morning

A fireworks storage facility located at Oko Awo in the Jankara market area of Lagos exploded this morning around 9am, injuring several people and destroying several cars.

Witnesses said the fire broke after someone mistakenly threw firecracker into the building which hit some unsold fireworks kept there. At least eight other buildings in the area were affected by the fire.

Fire fighters and other rescue agencies deployed to the area have managed to calm the situation

Rihanna blasts fan on Instagram over Whitney Houston comment

So Rihanna posted a photo of herself smoking a joint (photo you see on the left) on her instagram page a few days back and a fan put a comment there saying RiRi would end up like Whitney Houston. Rihanna, who's notorious for checking fans who try her on social media, put the smack down on the fan immediately. Below the photo on the right is what the fan said to her and under it is Rihanna's reply.

Fourteen-year-old Esther (not real name, pictured above), one of the victims of the virginity test that was allegedly conducted on pupils of Ajuwon Senior High School, Ajuwon, Ogun State, by their principal, fears she might have lost her virginity. She spoke with Punch correspondent, Temitayo Famutimi, on Sunday. Excerpts:

Why did you choose to do the virginity test when some pupils ran away?

I did not choose to do the test. After I and other female Senior Secondary School one pupils lined up in front of her (Olufunke Aladeojobi’s) office, I fled the scene but she noticed it and sent people after us threatening to deal with us.

The reception followed at Goshen Hall Events Center Ikeja.

According to the blogger - the ceremony was a combination of a historic church, a swanky reception and the most important element of all – a couple in love! The couple were a perfect representation of elegant sophistication as they said “I do”.

Lagos State Government demolish N100million PFMI church

There was uproar at Afero village on Lekki-Epe Expressway, Lagos, as officials of the Lagos State Government demolished a sprawling church, the Pure Fire Miracles Ministries International (PFMI) in a controversial manner.

Lagos Task Force men, accompanied by officials from the Ministry for Physical Planning and Urban Development (MPPUD), stormed the church to enforce an eviction ordered by the government.

The ministry demolished the building over allegation that there was no approval for the construction of the building.

The church structures, which officials of the church said had gulped over N100 million, were erected on a 10-acre land and comprised six auditoriums, offices, residential buildings and buildings for other uses.

Koreans: Kidnappers called us ‘bad market’

The four Koreans (pictured above) and a Nigerian kidnapped in Bayelsa State by eight gunmen said on Saturday that their assailants fed them with noodles, tea and banana while in captivity.

The victims, who were released on Friday night after spending five days in the kidnappers’ den located in a mangrove, said the captors set them free after branding them “bad market.”

Jong Ken, Hi Kim, Doo Lee, Joon Chae and a Nigerian, Austin Giwa, who are employees of the Hyundai Fabrication Company at Okpoama, Brass Local Government Area, were whisked away by gunmen who raided the firm on December 17.

Comedian I Go Dye gives out BMW Z3 convertible to film editor

Ace comedian Francis Agoda a.k.a I Go Dye recently showed the compassionate side of him when he gave out a BMW Z3 convertible car (the comedian pictured left in the car) to film editor and event manager, Amuwa Oluseyi Asurf (pictured right with the car)

Asurf, a well known film editor, was involved in an automobile accident a few weeks back and had his car written off as a result of the crash. Even with the little I Go Dye has he was still able to open his garage and give out the car.

Meanwhile, it was double blessing for the seasoned editor who recently welcomed a child. Asurf has carved a niche for himself in the entertainment industry. He has edited series of films, produced shows for the likes of Wizkid, Basketmouth, AY and others.
