Arepo pipeline explosion: Bodies of vandals float on creeks

NNPC pipeline was vandalized on Saturday January 12th at Arepo in Ogun state, barely a month after it was fixed after it was vandalized in August 2012. The vandalism led to an explosion that killed at least 30 people.

Bodies of four of those people were found yesterday Sunday January 13th floating in the swamp around the explosion site in Arepo. The bodies had floated up from the water, while several bodies are suspected to be inside the swamp.

The explosion occurred according to an eye witness, Sunday Reuben (pictured above, who is now late) after two of the vandals reportedly engaged in a heated argument which led to one of them shooting into the air with his rifle. Bullets shot from the rifle hit the ruptured pipeline and led to the explosion. Several died, many arrested. Now it will take NNPC several months to repair it again!

According to data analyzed from E-Poll Market Research, which assigns stars an "E-Score" to measure their marketability, West's fragile popularity has indeed made a southbound U-turn in the past half year. West first stepped out with his new girlfriend in April 2012. A coincidence? Likely not.

"He was starting to bounce back from [the 2009 VMA incident with Taylor Swift]," E-Poll Senior Director of Marketing and Communications Randy Parker told the Huffington Post. "There does appear to there is some sort of fallback or blowback from him hooking up with Kim. One of the things we measure is an attribute called 'Overexposed'. Gov Sullivan Chime, in UK hospital with heart disease

Governor Sullivan Chime, who has been missing from Enugu State since September 2012 when he applied accumulated leave that ought to have lasted only one and a half months, is battling heart disease in London’s Cromwell Hospital, sources have told SaharaReporters.

Despite efforts to ferry him home to quell public restlessness in the State, the condition of the governor, whose medical sojourn started in India, has remained dire.

Majek Fashek is getting worse

According to people close to him, Majek Fashek disappeared from his Gowon Estate home in December 2012 without telling anyone where he was going to, then reappeared sometime last week, looking haggard, weak and unaware of his surroundings; worse than he's been in recent times. The Reggae icon, who said he takes cocaine whenever he can afford it, is currently hospitalized as friends say his mental health has deteriorated drastically since his return.

He has become a shadow of his old self, breaking bottles and behaving very abnormal. In fact, he has not been himself since he returned to the country. Right now, he is hospitalized. Aaron Swartz,Internet genius,hangs himself in his NYC apartment

26 year old Aaron Swart was found dead in his New York apartment on Friday January 11th, weeks before he was to go on trial for downloading subscription-only academic papers with the intent to distribute them.

The hacker-activist was facing federal charges, a possible sentence of 35 years in prison and a $1 million fine. Guess he couldn't take it all and so he hanged himself in his apartment in Brooklyn on Friday.

"Aaron has been depressed about his case/upcoming trial, but we had no idea what he was going through was this painful." Susan Swartz, Aaron's mother, posted on a hacker section of the Ycombinator Web site today.

SSS arrest Boko Haram leader in residence of former Rep

The SSS has arrested one of the wanted leaders of the Boko Haram at the residence of a former member of the House of Representatives in Abuja.

Hassan Pagi Bukur was arrested on Saturday in the Gwarinpa district of Abuja at the private residence of Honourable Tijani Umar Kumalia, a member of the lower house between 2003 and 2007, according to reports in the local media, which quoted an unnamed security source.

A security guard employed by Honourable Kumalia, a politician from Borno State, the spiritual headquarters of the Boko Haram, was also arrested by the SSS.

The unnamed source also revealed that the former lawmaker was interrogated by SSS officials and released. The detained Boko Haram leader, Bukur according to the security source was responsible for handling stolen vehicles used by the Boko Haram in its deadly car bombings (The Will Nigeria)

King Sunny Ade's ex-guitarist, 62year old Fatoke Abiodun (left) was arrested on Tuesday January 1 2013 at MMIA with 1.575kg of cocaine as he attempted to leave Nigeria. Fatoke said he turned to drugs after he was unceremoniously retired in 2007 without severance pay after playing with KSA for 30 years. King Sunny Ade has finally reacted, saying his former guitarist was not a member of staff of his company but just a member of his band, who was not entitled to a severance pay. I would first of all, remove the money for taxes, equipment we used and other stuff connected to the performance. Thereafter, the remaining money is shared among all of us. Former gov Lucky Igbinedion bars from entering the US

Former Governor Lucky Igbinedion of Edo State may no longer enter the US, SaharaReporters has discovered from sources in Washington, DC. One of the sources revealed that the American consular authorities had written to Mr. Igbinedion to tell him that he was no longer welcome in the US.

Another source indicated that the former governor, who has been convicted for corrupt practices shortly after  his governorship term, had multiple entry visas to the US. "However, he has received a letter revoking his visa," said one source.

Our source in Washington, DC disclosed that the US government was reviewing the files of some of Nigeria's current and former government officials and will deny them visas once they are deemed undesirable on account of their engagement in corruption.

317 classrooms was given to Nigeria by Japan

The Japanese government, working through the Japan International Cooperation Agency handed over 317 classrooms to the Federal Government of Nigeria onThursday January 10th. The classrooms were a result of a project started in June 2010 and is part of Japan’s Grant Aid to Nigeria.

The classrooms were constructed in 33 primary schools across 22 local government areas of in Kano State. It is expected to be able to accommodate around 12,680 pupils and also included 308 toilet booths. Japanese ambassador to Nigeria Ryuichi Shoji, handed over the classrooms to Minister of state for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, and said that the 2.31 billion Naira (US$14.8 million) spent on the project was an important investment, as education is an invaluable asset for children and a crucial factor in the economic development of a country.

Young doctor killed in broad daylight in Lagos

A young doctor, Irawo Adamolekun, was shot dead Yesterday in Lagos by an unknown gunman. Rapper, Ruggedman witnessed the killing and tweeted about the incident which occurred at Anthony.
