"No Amnesty for Boko Haram" - President Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday said the Federal Government would not grant amnesty to members of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram.

Jonathan who spoke at a Town Hall meeting in Damaturu, during his official visit to Yobe State, said members of Boko Haram, by their mode of operation, deserved no amnesty in the manner of Niger Delta militants.

The President's declaration was an apparent response to Tuesday's call by Sultan Saad Abubakar III of Sokoto for "total amnesty" for members of the sect in order to promote peace in the country.

Father killed 3 Months old daughter through oral rape

A 28 year old father Steven Deuman Jr has been sentenced to 2 life terms in prison for causing the death of his 3 months old daughter while he was oral raping her. In August 2011, Deuman's infant daughter, Evelynne Deuman, was found dead with a condom in her mouth. Deuman said he had stepped outside to smoke only to return and find their daughter on the floor bleeding from the nose, unconscious and not breathing with the discarded condom in her mouth

Brazilian Goalkeeper who ordered the murder of his girlfriend appears in court

Goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes de Souza, 28, is accused of having his model girlfriend, Eliza Samudio killed to avoid paying child support after she gave birth to his love child.

Bruno, who was tipped to play for Brazil in the 2014 World Cup, has always denied knowing what happened to 25-year-old model Ms Samudio, has always claimed Ms Samudio was alive and had left the country. Her body has never been found.

Kanu Nwankwo loses N1.4 Billion to fraudstars

Nigeria’s football star, Nwankwo Kanu has lost N1.4 billion in his hotel business and the Managing Director of the hotel, Mr. Ayoola Gam Ikon, 49, has been arrested and charged to court for the alleged fraud.

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit arrested Ikon, the managing director of Hardley Suites Limited situated at Waziri Ibrahim Crescent, off Elsie Femi Pearse Street, Victoria Island, Lagos southwest Nigeria, for allegedly stealing the N1.4 billion belonging to the hotel and suites owned by Kanu.Also arrested along with him over the alleged fraud is a hotel staff, Oke Samuel.They were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s court on a 19-count charge of felony to wit, obtaining money under false pretence.

Kim Kardashian has been rushed to hospital after being taken ill on a plane.Kanye West baby-mama was taken to a medical facility on Tuesday night following her flight from Paris to Los Angeles, according to US sources.

It’s claimed there were concerns for her unborn baby and doctors apparently blamed her rigorous workouts for causing her health issues.

A source told the New York Post, Kim started feeling ill on the plane from Paris, and called friends as soon as she landed. She was rushed to her doctor Tuesday night in tears.

Medics reportedly gave Kim the all-clear later that night but ordered her to rest and steer clear of the gym.

The source continued...Kim's not respecting her pregnancy.She's running around, working out seven days a week.She's working with two different trainers to control her weight, including Tracy Anderson and a pregnancy trainer.She is having a very rough pregnancy, and doctors have ordered her to slow down.”

Close-Up gives free Dental Health Checks

Close Up, the number one toothpaste brand in Nigeria recently partnered with Dentists to engage about 200 consumers in an oral hygiene exercise by giving out free dental checks in selected clinics in the Magodo and Surulere area of Lagos.

Prior to the Saturday on which the free dental check was executed, Close Up had created heavy awareness in these areas and invited many in need of this Dental Check. Consumers who attended the dental clinic were very grateful for the opportunity as many had dental issues they were unaware of, and were subsequently counseled on how to better care for their teeth.

Sultan of Sokoto seeks total amnesty for Boko Haram members

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Abubakar III, on Tuesday asked President Goodluck Jonathan to grant members of the Islamist  militant group, Boko Haram , “total amnesty” for the sake of  peace in the country.

Abubakar, who by his position as Sultan, is the spiritual head of Nigerian Muslims, argued that a presidential amnesty to even one member of the sect, could make others to lay down their arms for peace to reign in the nation.

Blaming the security challenges confronting the country on injustice “meted out to the people,” he said the muslim community in Nigeria was concerned about the spate of bombings and killings by Boko Haram members, especially in the North.Abubakar spoke at the meeting of the Central Council of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam in Kaduna.He said as Jonathan  prepares to visit Maiduguri, Borno State, where the sect  has its root, he should consider the amnesty option as a surest way to make peace reign once again in the country.

 “Ours is to advise and we will continue advising the government. If they do what they are supposed to do, that would be fine,” he said, adding that one of the primary duties of government was to  ensure  the protection of the  citizenry.

But the Christian Association of Nigeria flayed the call by the Sultan, saying it was an indication that he knows the members of Boko Haram.

Folorunsho Alakija,Africa's richest woman, owns N18b UK property

According to a report released last weekend by American lifestyle magazine, Vanity Fair, Nigerian oil Tycoon, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija owns five apartments in London’s One Hyde Park, the world’s most expensive apartment block.

Vanity Fair in their report wrote that Mrs Alakija owns five apartments in the 6,000 pounds-per-square-feet apartment block which she bought at a combined fee of $123 million (N18.4billion), making her the second highest property owner in the upmarket area after Rinat Akhmetov, Ukraine’s richest man and owner of Ukranian football club, Shaktar Donesk, whose property is valued at $215.9 million.

Others who own property at One Hyde Park include some of the richest men in Britain, Russia, Taiwan, sheiks from UAE, Naomi Campbell's boyfriend Vladislav Doronin also owns an apartment there.

According to the investigation by tax haven expert, Nicholas Shaxton, who wrote the report for Vanity Fair, just 17 of the 76 sold apartments are primary residences. Because the property owners are so wealthy, many of them have other homes and do not use their exclusive Hyde Park address as their permanent home. Shaxton also revealed that many of the owners use offshore companies to buy the homes to enable them hide their identity.
