22 yr old man to die by hanging in Warri for stealing N955, 600

A court in Warri has sentenced a young man to death by hanging for stealing N955k. Below is how Sunnewsonline.com is reporting it...

A 22-year-old man, Julius Aboy was yesterday sentenced to death for stealing N955, 600 by a Delta State High Court sitting in Warri. The trial judge, Justice Marshal Mukoro of High Court 1, who handed down the sentence told the convict that he is to die by hanging.

The convict was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery, offences punishable under Sections 6(b) and 1(2)(a) respectively of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap. RII Volume 14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The Commissioner of Police in the Nigerian Capital, Abuja, Olufemi Ogunbayo, has denied that there was an assassination attempt on leading opposition politician, Dino Melaye.Mr. Ogunbayo stated this in a telephone interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday.
Mr. Melaye said his vehicle was shot at on Monday night in the Central Business District of Abuja; and the former federal lawmaker described the incident as an assassination attempt.

Protesters yesterday Monday April 15th set the palace of a traditional ruler, Oba Lateef Adeniran, on fire after attacking and stripping him naked in public. The angry mob not only burnt down the Oba's palace in the Ado-Odo area of Ogun State, they also attacked his wives and children. They said the king was imposed on them and they want him gone.
