Uche Jombo temporarily relocates to the US to join her husband

The actress left Nigeria two days ago to be with her husband at their home in the US. Heard she plans to stay over there for a while, though she will come back for a few days in November for the Africa International Film Festival which will hold in Calabar..after that it's goodbye to Nigeria till 2014.

Timbaland's wife files for divorce after 5 years of marriage

Music producer Timbaland's wife of five years Monique Mosley has filed for divorce after five years of marriage. Monique, in her divorce document obtained by TMZ, is asking for child support for Reign, their five year old daughter and also for her 10 year old son from a previous relationship.

Asides the child support, Monique is also asking for alimony, life insurance, private school for the kids, vacations, summer camp and other expenses, her legal fees inclusive.

Monique who in her court document said she had to borrow money from a friend to pay her lawyer is also seeking for "rehabilitative alimony" and permanent alimony in addition to funds while divorce proceedings continue.

Timbaland has a net-worth estimated at $80million according to the website Celebrity Networth.

See the Nigerian woman who runs 'Harvard University' from a flat in the UK

A Nigerian woman named Rev Dr Tina Beloveth Powerful, who runs a 'Havard University' from a flat in Milton Keynes, is being sued by American Havard University over trademark infringement. Dr Powerful's business school, founded in 2010, is called Havard School of Management and Technology and is being run from a city center flat in North Third Street in CMK.

The Milton Keynes Trading Standards department and the UK police are currently investigating Dr Powerful and the school. The MKTS department recently revealed that the UK Harvard school does not have accreditation for courses it claims to run.

Ministry of aviation confirms purchase of N255m cars for Stella Oduah

So Sahara Reporters was right after all. Yesterday an aide of aviation minister Stella Oduah called the report 'mere rumour' but the ministry of aviation have confirmed that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority indeed bought two bulletproof BMW cars worth $1.6m (N255m) for Ms Oduah.

Special Assistant (Media) to the aviation minister, Joe Obi, told Punch that the vehicles were purchased to protect the minister from some external threats. He said the vehicles were procured in response to the clear and imminent threat to the minister’s personal security and life following the bold steps she took to reposition the sector.

"When she came on board as the minister, she inherited a lot of baggage in terms of the concession and lease agreements in the sector, which were clearly not in the interest of the government and people of Nigeria.

“And so, she took bold steps and some of these agreements were reviewed and some were terminated, and these moves disturbed some entrenched interests in the sector, and within this period, she began to receive some imminent threats to her life; therefore, the need for the vehicles." Joe Obi said

Aviation officials claims $1.6m ministerial car scandal is all rumours

Sahara Reporters reported yesterday that Minister of Aviation Stella Oduah forced cash-strapped Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA to spend $1.6m on two armored cars for her. A rep for the minister claims the report, despite documents to show the purchase of the cars, is false.

Aviation spokesman, Yakubu Datti, told Premium Times

“I don’t respond to rumours…and as we approach 2015, people are bound to make up all sorts of stories. This is a woman (Mrs. Oduah) who is successful and established. A woman that made her mark in oil and gas, who owned trucks, barges, and so on. What is two cars?"

Breaking News: Lao Airlines plane crashes into river, killing 49

A Lao Airlines plane crashed today Wednesday October 16th killing all 44 passengers and five crew members on board. The twin-engine turbo plane was on a domestic flight from the capital Vientiane to the airport in the Champasak province in the Southern Asian country when it plunged into the river as it tried to land at Pakse International Airport. Passengers from 11 different countries were in the plane including three South Koreans, seven French, one American, one Chinese, one Taiwanese, one Canadian, five Australians and two Vietnamese.

State-owned Lao Airlines issued a statement saying the small plane ran into "extreme bad weather conditions" and crashed at 4:00pm (local time).

UK to pay 1million pounds to repatriate 534 Nigerian prisoners home

Hundreds of Nigerian criminals will be sent home to serve out prison sentences under a deal set to be struck by ministers within weeks, according to a report by UK Daily Mail

Talks are continuing into reaching a compulsory prisoner transfer agreement, which could see more than half of the 500 criminals from Nigeria currently in UK jails repatriated.

Prisons minister Jeremy Wright told MailOnline how 'more foreign prisoners must serve their sentences in their own countries'.

Ministers have been ordered to step up efforts to end the scandal of more than one in eight prisoners being from overseas. David Cameron vowed to end the practice of the British taxpayer picking up the bill for criminals with no business in the UK.

Doubt if Nigerians prisoners would want to come serve the rest of their terms in Kirikiri.

Anambra deportees file N1 billion lawsuit against Lagos Govt, ask for written apology

The 76 destitute who were deported a few months ago to Onitsha, Anambra state, by the Lagos State government have dragged the state government to a federal High Court, demanding N1 billion in compensation for the violation of their rights. They are also asking for a written apology to be published in Thisday, Vanguard and The Sun Newspapers continuously for 30 days.

The deportees claimed they were arrested and detained for several months by the state government without being charged with any offense only to be deported to Anambra state and taken away from their families. Now they are asking a federal high court to order the Lagos state govt to compensate them and stop the government from further deporting them and accommodate them in Lagos

The suit was filed by seven of the deportees on behalf of themselves and 69 others. Hearing on the suit has been set for next year January 29, 2014.

During a debriefing session with federal investigators, James Rosemond, the music manager-turned-cocaine kingpin, was reportedly questioned about the sexual preferences of entertainers, including whether Sean “Diddy” Combs was “having sexual relationships with under age boys,” according to a U.S. District Court filing.

In his September 6 affidavit, Rosemond (seen at above right) contended that he reluctantly agreed to the proffer sessions arranged by Gerald Shargel, his former lawyer. Rosemond added that investigators sought to get him to confess to crimes for which he had no involvement. “When the defendant said he didn’t know about a certain event…they accused him of lying,” Rosemond claimed.
