"Naomi poured acid over herself to achieve fame and fortune' - accused attacker claims

Mary Konye, the 21 year old jealous friend being accused of attacking Naomi Oni with acid in Dec. 2012 made some shocking allegations of her own in court two day ago. She told the courts through her lawyers that Naomi set up the attack and asked her (Mary Konye) to 'play the stalker' and throw the acid on her face, which was all part of an elaborate plan to be rich and famous.

Is 38 years in prison appropriate for a teacher who slept with her 12 year old student?

Former teacher Ethel Anderson, 31, (pictured above) was found guilty and sentenced to 38 years in prison in December 2013 for having sex with her 12 year old student.

The married mother of one had sex with one of her students, whose identity is being kept secret because of his age (he was 12 at the time). The alleged abuse started in 2011 just one month after the teacher and the minor started a tutoring session in her home. During her trial last year, the boy, now 14, told the court that she started by kissing him and progressed to giving him oral sex.

2 days ago you read that controversial Lagos pastor Sign Fireman had been arrested by Lagos police over the alleged ritual murder of a 12 year old girl, Bose Ogoja, after the girl's killer, 18 year old Ikechukwu claimed he killed her following instructions from Pastor Sign Fireman. (If you missed it, read it here). Well, the boy's mother has spoken out and says his son has never met the founder and Head Pastor of Perfect Christian Mission.

Mrs Esther Egbo told reporters yesterday that they were members of the Badagry brand of Fireman's church and in the two years they've been in the church, they have never set eyes on the man. She said her son had been arrested four different times by the police for attempted rape and had even been charged to court and was only released on December 10, 2013.

Ex Miss Venezuela/Telemundo actress and ex shot dead in Venezuela

Former Miss Venezuela 2004 and popular telenovela actress, Monica Spear, 29, and her ex-husband Thomas Berry, 39, were shot dead in their car on a highway in Venezuela by armed robbers in front of their 5 year old daughter on Monday January 6th, local news reports.

Monica and Thomas were traveling with their daughter late Monday night when their car hit a sharp object which had been placed on the Puerto Cabello highway.

The couple came out of their car and dialed for help. While waiting for a tow truck, they saw armed men coming their way and locked themselves in their car. The men, later found to be armed robbers, opened fire through the car window, killing Monica & Thomas and injuring their daughter.

Popular Lagos miracle pastor Dr. Sign Fireman arrested over alleged ritual murder of virgin girl

Controversial Lagos miracle pastor Pastor Ofuche Ukoha, popularly known as Dr. Sign Fireman, has been arrested by Lagos police over alleged ritual murder of a 12 year old girl.

Sahara Reporters reports

"Sign Fireman has been implicated in a ritual murder scandal involving a boy in his church who strangled a 12 year old teenage girl while trying to obtain feces from her for ritual purposes.

The disclosure of Pastor Fireman's involvement in the scandal was made by an eighteen year old boy paraded by the police in Lagos. The teenage suspect stated during the parade that he was sent on the ritual mission by Pastor Fireman.

Nigerian Airports to have Hi-tech explosive detectors - FG

In a bid to boost safety and security measures in Nigeria's airports, the Federal Ministry of Aviation has acquired Hi-tech three-in-one explosive detectors for 15 out of the 22 airports in the country. The facilities would be capable of detecting liquid, metals and explosives during airport screening.

Announcing this new development yesterday, spokesman for the Aviation Ministry, Mr Yakubu Dati said that the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and the Muritala Mohammed International Airports in Lagos already have the facilities installed, while other airports are in the process of having theirs fully installed. Good!

27 of 30 PDP lawmakers in Sokoto decamp to APC

Of the 30 honorable members that make up the Sokoto State House of Assembly, 27 of them who came into the house through the PDP flag today renounced their membership of the ruling party and defected to All Progressive Party (APC) which happens to be the state Governor, Aliyu Wammako's party. Governor Wammako in October 2013 defected with four other serving PDP Governors to the APC. The people that defected include Speaker of the Assembly and other principal officers

The lawmakers said they defected because they have been under immense pressure to defect to the APC by members of their constituency since their governor ditched the PDP for APC.

Speaking to Premium Times, the lawmakers said:

"We are moving in line with the decision of his excellency Gov Wammako to also move over to the APC. The PDP umbrella is torn and we have to follow the wishes of our people"

Indonesian man has tumour all over his body after doctors remove one from his waist

An Indonesian man whose body is covered by hundreds of tumours has made a final plea for help as the rare condition robs him of his sight.

Slamet, from East Java, is believed to be suffering from neurofibromatosis, a genetic condition which causes uncontrollable growths along the nerves. According to his brother Suwadi, the 59-year-old had a tumour removed from his waist in 1991. But six months later tumours began to form all over his face and body.

Years later the condition has become intolerable and Slamet suffers constant pain throughout his body. Recently the tumours have started blocking his nostrils, making it difficult for him to breath

Pics: Ondo lawmaker survives assasination attempt

An Ondo State House of Assembly member, Soji Akinkurolere, survived an assassination attempt on Monday January 6th at his home in Okitipupa in Ondo state thanks to one of his trusted aides.

Sahara Reporters reports that Mr Akinkurolere's aide foiled the assassination attempt when 5 gunmen raided the lawmaker's private residence. Akinkurolere escaped with his family, without harm.

"I was on the other side of the road when I saw a vehicle parked some distance from the residence with men inside," a neighbor in Okitipupa told SaharaReporters. "I was surprised when I saw a man, whom had been sitting in the front seat of the car, come down from the residence and start making phone calls. Immediately he dropped the calls, he tapped the other guys seated in the back seat and they headed to the home of Honorable Akinkurolere. The last thing I heard was sporadic gunshots."

The police in Lagos State, yesterday, said they have arrested an 18-year-old boy, Ikechukwu Friday, who allegedly killed a 12-year-old girl for money ritual.
According to him, a pastor he asked for money instructed him to kill a young girl and obtain her faeces.The suspect, who is currently being interrogated at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, was paraded before newsmen.
He said the pastor promised him N100,000 if he was able to accomplish the task.
According to him, “I attend a popular church around Ketu Street, Aguda but I live with my parents in Badagry. I just finished secondary school and I have been very broke so I approached the pastor for money but he told me that I should strangulate a little girl.

Stella Oduah erases education references online after SR report

Aviation Minister Stella Oduah and her associates have spent the last several hours scrambling to clean up the minister’s biographies online after SR's report hit the net.

According to the report by Sahara Reporters, Aviation Minister Stella Odua's Master's degree which she claimed to have obtained from St. Paul’s College Lawrenceville, Virginia, US and presented to the Senate in 2011 as a ministerial nominee, is fake, because the school does not offer graduate programs.

Sahara Reporters learned from the President of the college that it has never in its 125-year history had a graduate school or graduate program. The Provost Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the Vice President of Institutional Development said “We don’t offer any graduate programs here.”

Premium Times went digging and it looks like the allegation is true because by 4pm yesterday, her profile page on Facebook was edited and all traces of St. Paul’s College was removed from the account. It was also removed from her Wikipedia page and her biography on the Ministry of Aviation website. See screen grabs after the cut...

Rochas Okorocha's first daughter welcomes twins

The governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has become a grandfather for the first time after his first daughter, Uloma Okorocha Nwosu, welcomed twins in December 2013. Uloma married Uche Nwosu, a serving commissioner in her father's cabinet in January 2013. The twins with Uloma's siblings above.

Uloma Nwosu is the Director General of her fathers foundation, Rochas Okorocha Foundation while her husband is the Honorable Commissioner for Land Survey and Urban planning in Imo State.

A horrible car accident occurred earlier today Tuesday January 7th on 3rd Mainland Bridge that left at least one person dead. The accident involved a Black Prado SUV (pictured above) that reportedly lost its tyres while on high speed. Three people were in the car at the time of the accident, with one of them reportedly dying on the spot. The accident caused heavy traffic on both lanes several hours ago.

A friend of Mary Konye told the police that Mary planned to attack Naomi and ruin her looks "so she would know 'how it feels' to feel bad about her appearance', after Naomi told her she looked like something out of a horror movie.
