Seven gay men arrested in Bauchi

According to a report by Channels TV, seven men appeared in court in Bauchi on Wednesday, Jan. 22, on charges of being involved in same-sex relationships.

The case drew thousands of protesters to the court, who threw stones at the men as they were being transported back to prison after the trial, as security forces fired into the air to disperse the angry crowd.

The men were arrested by the Bauchi State Sharia Commission for allegedly engaging in homosexual activities, acts that contravene the Islamic laws which the state had been operating under since 2001.

The men were named as Shehu Adamu, Yusuf Adamu, Aliyu Dalhatu, Abdulmalik Tanko, Usman Sabo and Hazif Sabo Abubakar and Ibrahim Marafa.

Hollywood actress and activist Goldie Hawn met President Jonathan on January 22nd at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, took a photo with him, shared it on twitter and described the president as 'wonderful president of Nigeria'.

49 year old Mary, who is a lawyer and banker, shared her experience with Punch on the challenges of being married for so long without a child and the support she got from her husband.

"When they told me I was pregnant, I screamed and cried in the hospital and everyone present rose up and gave thanks to the Lord. Since then, the story has been one testimony after another. But that was not all, when I was to put to bed, I was told there might be complications as a result of all the operations I had done. They said that might make it a very difficult and dangerous birth. Yet, the Lord saw me through. It feels great and I thank the Lord for wiping away my tears and making me a mother at last. It is a dream I have had since I married at the age of 27. Now, I am more than 49 years old, it has taken a long time but the Lord has done it for me. I have shed a lot of tears. Our story is like that of Abraham and Sarah. I am already in menopause but I told God that if He did it for Sarah and gave her womb the strength to conceive, then He would give my womb the same strength. Even when doctors in London told me in 2011 that nothing could be done, I knew that it is only Him (the Lord) that could help me. I focussed on the Lord and He did it for me." Unbelievable! Dana Airline resumes flight operations today

According to a reports, Dana Airline has successfully passed the operational audit exercise by the NCAA and would start operations as from today Saturday January 25th.

 A statement from the airline said following the successful outcome of the operational audit of Dana Air by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), the airline is set to recommence full commercial flight operations today.

Announcing the resumption of flight operations in Lagos, the Chief Operating Officer & Accountable Manager, Mr. Yvan Drewinsky, said the lifting of the suspension order is a testament that Dana Air
adheres strictly to prescribed safety standards as dictated by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs) and the International Civil  Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards.

SSS finally secures warrant of arrest for El-Rufai

The State Security Service, SSS, has finally secured a warrant of arrest for the Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasir El-Rufai, and has now launched a manhunt for him, the spokesperson for the agency has said.

This is even as armed operatives of the Service again stormed a second house in Abuja believed to belong to the former minister in their desperate bid to arrest him.

They had earlier in the afternoon invaded his first house in the Maitama District of the nation’s capital, but could not find him as he had reportedly gone to pick his children from school. They were said to have tried to force their way in to arrest the former minister.

Armed SSS operatives storm Nasir El Rufai's home in Abuja

Court orders Indian woman to be gang raped for dating a man from another village

A Kangaroo court in a village in India ordered a 20year old woman (pictured above) to be gang-raped by 13 men for having a relationship with a man from another village, Times of India reports.

The woman was locked in a shed and raped overnight by 13 men, 10 of which had been 'judges' in the kangaroo court which sentenced her in a village near Suri in west Bengal state, police said.

The woman is currently fighting for her life in hospital while all 13 men have since been arrested for rape. Among them is the village headman.

Hong Kong billionaire doubles reward for any man who can make his lesbian daughter straight

Hong Kong billionaire Cecil Chao, has offered a whooping $130million to any man who can sweep his lesbian daughter, Gigi Chao (right) off her feet, marry her and give him grandchildren. Gigi ran away with her female lover sometime last year in France.

Nissan set to role out first made in Nigeria cars in April

Carlos Ghosn, the Chief Executive Officer of Nissan Motors, yesterday January 23rd announced the production of Nigerian-made 4X4 Nissan motors as from April this year.

Ghosn made this revelation while speaking at an interactive session with President Jonathan  at the ongoing World Economic Forum holding at Davos, Switzerland.

He said the cars would be produced at the Old Volkswagen assembly plant situated in Lagos and that a total of two to three million cars is expected to be produced from the plant annually.

"We are interested in producing popular cars, totally adapted to the needs of Nigerians" Gbosn said while speaking with President Jonathan.

He said one of the goals of producing in Nigeria is to help reduce unemployment rate in the country.
