Labaran Maku names replacement of sacked Ministers

On Wednesday, we heard that President Jonathan had sacked 4 ministers. All four of them have been replaced temporarily by serving ministers. See their replacements below...

Ms. Stella Oduah, Minister of Aviation replaced by Minister of State for Trade and Investments, Mr Samuel Ortom.
Godsday Orubebe, Minister of Niger Delta Affair replaced by Mr Darius Isiaku
Caleb Olubolade, Minister of Police Affairs replaced by The Minister of State for the FCT, Missus Olajumoke Akinjide.

The announcement was made this evening by Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, who said president Jonathan asked the  ministers go after they had 'indicated their interest to pursue other goals in the country'

President Jonathan sacks Stella Oduah, Orubebe, Oluboade and Yerima as ministers

President Jonathan yesterday Wednesday February 12th sacked the embattled Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah. He also sacked Godsday Orubebe (pictured right), Minister of Niger Delta; Caleb Olubolade, the minister of Police Affairs, and Yerima Ngama, Minister of State, Finance.

Heard Ms Oduah will now focus on her Neighbour to Neighbour political campaign organization which she founded a few years ago. Also heard the other ministers were dropped for political reasons. All three of them are planning to run for governorship positions in their various states. Orubebe is running in Delta, Yerima in Yobe and Olubolade in Ekiti State, all under PDP.

Boko Haram kills over 40 in attack on Konduga Village in Borno State

Over 40 people were killed on Tuesday Feb. 11th in Konduga village in Borno state by gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram.

The gunmen arrived the village around 5:30pm and started shooting people. Several houses and a secondary school were burnt down according to security officials who visited the village after the attack. One security personnel said he counted at least 40 bodies following the unexpected attack.

The attackers met no resistance from security agencies as they carried out their deed. Military men reportedly arrived after the men had gone and have taken over the security situation in the area.

Dad stabs and beats his 11 year old son to death at sports practice before he is shot dead by police

An 11 year old boy (pictured above) was brutally attacked with a cricket bat and stabbed to death by his father during a cricket training session in the outer Melbourne township of Tyabb on Wednesday.

Daily Mail reports
 Police shot Luke Batt's father Greg in an attempt to halt the frenzied attack, but the young boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his father died later in hospital.
 Horrified parents and children who were gathered at the ground for evening cricket training watched Greg attack his son with a knife and cricket bat on Wednesday evening at Tyabb Cricket Ground, in Victoria.

Pastor Tunde Bakare denies labelling APC ‘satanic’

Pastor Tunde Bakare has denied recent reports that he labelled political party APC, 'satanic'
“APC is like a newly opened church of Satan with the evil as a pastor which could not be distinguished by Nigerians from a true living Godly church and hence could be mistaken for a real church, even when it was made of thieves (Legitimate Pen Robbers),” Mr. Bakare, who pastors the Latter Rain Assembly, was reported as saying during a sermon.
But his lawyer says he never made such a comment
“The publication which has been shared on other online news platforms and social media has no shred of truth. It is malicious, offensive and intended to disparage our client and cause him embarrassment and public condemnation.”

Governor Adams Oshiomole donates N14million to seven widows

Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo state today donated N14million (N2million each) to seven police officer's widows who died in the line of duty. Addressing the women, the governor said he was moved by their plight as well as the great service their husbands gave to the state. He also announced that N500,000 would be given to each of the children of the seven police officers.

The Governor said he hoped this act would help spur other police officers who are still in active force to be more dedicated to their duties so that posterity would remember them for good.

Father padlocks 4 year old son's mouth, beats him to death for being an evil child

A father has allegedly beaten his four-year old son to death, padlocking his mouth to prevent him from shouting while the beating lasted. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at 7, Adetola Adelaja Street, Meiran area of Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the man, Mr. Chris Elvis, who claims to sell computer accessories, allegedly locked his son, Godrich in the room, padlocked his mouth and beat him to death with an object that inflicted deep cuts all over his body, claiming that the boy was an Ogbanje (evil child that dies and reincarnates repeatedly).

The man landed in trouble when his landlady, Mrs Popoola who was in the market, was informed that something was happening in her house. She rushed home and discovered that the boy had been beaten to death by his father.

APC falters as PDP retakes majority in the House Of Reps

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has retaken the majority in the Federal House of Representatives with Tuesday’s defection of five members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ruling party.

Today’s development may have crushed the APC’s big push and momentum to effectively take over the House of Reps following the crisis rocking the ruling party.

Those who defected from the APC to the PDP are: Honourables Ladan Shehu Bichi (Kano), Abdulsalam Adamu (Kano), Sani Umar Dangaladima (Zamfara), Shehu Gusau (Zamfara) and Umar Bature (Sokoto).

Hon. Isa Mohammed Bashiru however defected to the APC from PDP. With this development, the PDP now has majority with 178 members as against the APC’s 168.

Hollywood legend Shirley Temple dies at the age of 85

Hollywood legend Shirley Temple has died at the age of 85, her family announced today. The actress who found fame as a child star in the 1930s and became the youngest person to receive an Academy Award (She won a special juvenile Oscar in 1935) died on Monday February 10th at her home in Woodside, California, from natural causes.

Shirley Temple was one of the most popular child stars in Hollywood history, getting her first film role at the age of three in 1932. She is No. 18 on the American Film Institute's list of the greatest female American screen legends of all time. May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
