MBGN Iheoma Nnadi proves she's really 19, flashes her birth certificate

The 2014 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria queen, Iheoma Nnadi, recently came under fire for allegedly falsifying her age. About 10 months ago, she had posted a throwback photo taken in 2007, and as soon as social media hawks found the photo, they became doubtful about her age, thus...the reports that she couldn't have been 11 years old in that photo since her current age is 19, plus, she kinda looked way too mature beyond her years in the said pic.

Apparently hurt by the reports and backlash she received, Iheoma has produced her birth certificate and  passport for your kind view. It seems she's really 19 after all? Continue to see more...

Two spouses of late Ebola victims test positive - Health Minister

Minister of Health Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu confirmed today August 22nd that Nigeria has recorded two new cases of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease. Prof. Chukwu said the two new cases are spouses of the primary contacts of late Patrick Sawyer, the man who brought Ebola to Nigeria, who have died. The Minister said said the two new cases are the first secondary contacts in isolation to test positive to the deadly virus.

They are currently being treated in Lagos. This brings the total number of cases, including the index case to 14, with five deaths and five survivors, while four are currently being treated.

FG finally pays allowances of scholarship students in Russia

The Federal Government yesterday August 21st started paying the allowance of scholarship students in Russia three days after it was reported that the 322 Nigerian students currently on Bilateral Educational Agreement scholarship in Russia hadn't been paid for about 8 months.

One of the students, Moyosore Ojuri, a Metallurgical Engineering student who spoke with Punch said herself and her colleagues have started receiving credit alerts of $4,450 in their respective bank accounts. She said $4000 is for her January to August allowance; $200 for annual medicals & health insurance, and $250 covers her annual protective clothing.

A 37-year-old mother of three, Ezeh Ifeoma Maureen (pictured above), has been arrested with substances suspected to be cannabis by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to The Nation, Maureen was caught at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) in  Ikeja, Lagos, during outward screening of China-bound Ethiopian Airlines’ passengers for allegedly attempting to smuggle 6.200 kilogrammes of dried weeds that tested positive for cannabis.

The agency’s Airport Commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, said the suspect told the officers that her bags contained vegetables and foodstuff.

Ebola: Patrick Sawyer's widow apologises to Nigerians, regrets Dr Adadevoh's death

Patrick Sawyer's widow, Decontee has reacted to the death of Dr Stella Adadevoh who died after trying to treat Mr.Sawyer.She has also apologised for offending Nigerians with her open letter which claimed her husband came here because he needed  medical help. She told Leadership.ng

“I share the pains that the family members of the Nigerian doctor are going through. It is just a pity that Patrick had to cause this damage both in Liberia and Nigeria....

“I want to reach out to them and express how deeply saddened and sorry I am for their loss and their pain. I do apologise if my words have cost anyone who is grieving more pain. I fall on my knees and ask God for his healing power for all of those who are still infected with Ebola. I pray for all of the families whose loved ones were taken away by this merciless killer Ebola, especially those affected by Patrick’s actions.

Two bankers, Rowland Alozie, Segun Osho and their accomplice, Abass Kolawole have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC for alleged conspiracy and fraudulent conversion of Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Cheque for nine million, five hundred and fifty-four thousand, two hundred and eighty six naira, (N9554,286, 00).

Pic: Human parts syndicate busted in Lagos

Operatives of  the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja, Lagos have smashed a syndicate that specialize in selling human parts, Vanguard reports.
The 3 suspects whose names were given as Mustapha Muritala, Sunday Oluyeba and Adenike Olanrewaju, were arrested at the Ojumerin area of Sagamu, Ogun State following a tip off. Recovered from the suspects were two human skulls suspected to have been procured from a graveyard.

When interrogated, one of the suspects, 42 year old Herbalist Mustapha Murtala, said he ventured into the business two years ago following an offer of N30,000 for a human skull.

US doctor Kent Brantly who survived Ebola speaks, leaves hospital

Dr. Kent Brantly, the US doctor cured of Ebola left the Emory University Hospital Atlanta about an hour ago. Before leaving, he spoke at a news conference, telling reporters that he's thrilled to be alive

"Today is a miraculous day. I’m thrilled to be alive, to be well and to be reunited with my family.

"I cannot thank you enough for your prayers and your support, but what I can tell you is that I serve a God who answers prayers. God saved my life, a direct answer to thousands and thousands of prayers. Thank you to the Liberia community, Emory hospital and so many of you, my family, friends and church family. Please don’t stop praying for others in West Africa.”

“I will be going away to recover physically and emotionally, but for now, we need some time together in private before sharing more of our journey." He said

Boko Haram takes over Police Academy in Borno state

Boko Haram men today August 21st reportedly invaded the Liman Kara Police college, a riot police training academy in Gwoza, Borno state and took over the academy.
According to BBC, the sect men arrived the town in armored cars and dozens of motorcycles. Scores of trainees at the academy have been reported killed while many managed to escape to nearby mountains for safety. More details later

Jilted lover walks in front of train driven by girlfriend who left him 3 weeks ago

A jilted lover killed himself by standing in front of a train driven by his ex-girlfriend, it emerged last night. Gary Wells, 36 (left), was said to be distraught after splitting from Diane MacDonald, 29 (right), three weeks ago. Miss MacDonald was powerless to prevent a collision after he stepped on to the track in front of the train she was driving on one of Britain’s most scenic rail routes.

Mr Wells died instantly as he was hit by the train.

Miss MacDonald, the first woman train driver on the West Highland Line in Scotland, was left so distressed that she required sedation after the tragedy, which happened at Inverlochy, near Fort William, on Tuesday morning.

Tony Elumelu donates N50million to fight Ebola virus in Nigeria

The Chairman of Heirs Holdings and former MD of UBA bank, Mr Tony Elumelu has donated N50m to support the Federal Government's effort to contain the Ebola virus in Nigeria.

Dan Nwomeh, the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Health Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu announced this today on social media.

The management of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria also donated an ambulance to the Ebola Emergency Operation Centre in Lagos .

ACP Frank Mba bows out as Police Public Relations Officer

ACP Frank Mba has bowed out as the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police Force. In a letter of appreciation he sent out this morning, Mr  Mba expressed his gratitude to the media and the Nigerian people for contributing to his successful tenure.

Mba, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Police Commissioner in June, has been redeployed to Lagos State Command as an Area Commander, Area J. He is expected to hand over to the new Public Relations officer, DCP Emmanuel Ojukwu later today.

Sister of immediate past Chief Judge of Lagos state sworn in as new Chief Judge

History was made yesterday August 20th in Lagos state as Hon. Justice Oluwafunmilayo Olajumoke Atilade (pictured centre), the younger sister of the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, Justice Ayotunde Philips (left) who retired in July, was sworn in as the new Chief Judge of Lagos state by Gov Babatunde Fashola at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Lagos state Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

This is the first time in the history of the state judiciary siblings will succeed each other as Chief Judge of the state.
