Fenerbahce drops Joseph Yobo

Turkish Super Lig club, Fenerbahce, announced yesterday Friday August 29th that they have released Nigeria defender Joseph Yobo. Fenerbahce announced on their official website that due to restriction in the number of foreign players, the club and Yobo had to part ways.

Both parties mutually agreed to terminate their contract this week on the eve of the start of the Turkish top flight this term.Yobo is now expected to be honoured at Fenerbahce's opening game of the season against Karabukspor.

5 year old girl sustains horrific injuries after being allegedly attacked in school

5 year old AvaLynn was nearly disfigured when she was allegedly attacked by another pupil at her Elementary school in Mississippi this week. The most bizarre thing about this story is that the school is maintaining that she was not attacked, rather she got the horrific injuries in an accident while playing on the playground.

Her mother and other relatives have opened a Facebook page for the young girl to tell what happened to her and share photos of her injuries, while seeking for justice. Below is what they wrote on the Facebook page about the incident...

"On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, Lacey Harris was called go come pick up her daughter at Arlington Elementary School in Pascagoula, Mississippi, because AvaLynn had been injured in an accident. The sight Lacey found when she got to Ava's school was a parents' nightmare: her face swollen, cut, and bruised beyond recognition."

Ebola: Dead Port Harcourt doctor’s infected wife moved to Lagos

The infected widow of Dr Iyke Enemoah, the Port Harcourt based doctor who died on Friday August 22nd from Ebola Virus Disease in Port Harcourt Rivers state has been moved to Lagos for proper isolation and treatment. Her 3-months old baby is among the 160 people placed under surveillance in Port Harcourt.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday August 29th in Port Harcourt, the state Commissioner for Health, Sampson Parker, said most of those placed under surveillance at the Port Harcourt Isolation center are medical doctors, nurses and patients Dr Enemoah interacted with at his Samsteel Clinic at Rumuokoro, as well as the Green Hart Hospital where he died.

Dr Enemoah passed away at the Green Hart Hospital after been infected with the deadly virus from an ECOWAS diplomat, Olubukun Koye, who he secretly treated at a hotel in Port Harcourt.

Meanwhile it's been discovered that the hotel is Mandate Gardens Hotel in Rumunokoro area in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State. People have been advised to avoid the hotel for the time being

Brother and sister arrested after 'having sex 3 times near church after watching The Notebook'

Chris Buckner, 20 (pictured left) and her 25 year old brother Timothy Savoy (pictured right) have been arrested after being accused of having sex with each other three times while parked outside a church after watching romantic movie, The Notebook, Savannah Morning News reports.

According to reports, police found the siblings early Wednesday morning outside the Countryside Baptist Church in Georgia, while investigating reports of a prowler at 4.30am. The police didn't even know they were related until they were booked.

The police say Chris and Tim admitted to having sex inside a tractor trailer after watching the film on Tuesday morning. They have both been charged with incest, aggravated sodomy, and prowling.

Dogs eating corpses of Ebola victims in Liberia - Residents claim

Residents of Johnsonville Township, outside Monrovia in Liberia are claiming that dogs are digging up the corpses of Ebola victims buried in shallow graves in Liberia and eating them in the streets.

Though security personnel guarding the area have refuted this, the residents insist it's been happening for days...that wild dogs have been going to the 'Ebola graveyard' in Johnsonville, digging up corpses, dragging them into the open and feeding on their flesh. They are blaming government health officials who hurriedly bury Ebola victims after they die in shallow graves at night.

Now the residents fear that the dogs could pass the virus to humans.

At least ten die as boat capsizes in Port Harcourt

At least 10 persons have been confirmed dead after a boat carrying 35 people capsized in the early hours of today August 29th in a river in Port Harcourt, Rivers State

Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mr Onimode Bandele said rescue efforts are still ongoing in the search of more people.

“We can confirm that 10 persons died early today when a Port Harcourt-bound passenger boat sank. Rescue efforts are ongoing and the agency is already working with other bodies and security agencies in the rescue efforts.” he said

Chairman of Bonny local government council, Adonye Wilcox, said

"Information available indicates that the boat hit an object on the way and sank. Local divers have rescued 17 persons, including four members of the National Youth Service Corps, while 10 persons died as a result of the accident” he said.

Hours after executing 300 Syrian soldiers, ISIS parade capatured Kurds, then beheads one

ISIS militants yesterday released a video showing them executing about 300 Syrian soldiers they captured near the Tabqa air base as the soldiers attempted to flee the fallen air base in Raqqa, Syria.

They stripped the soldiers down to their briefs, took them to the desert, lined them up and executed them. Then hours later, they posted another video showing captured Kurd fighters wearing orange prison uniforms. This time they executed only one....beheaded him on video (pictured right)...while warning the Kurds to break from their alliance with the US government against the caliphate or face more capture and executions.

Islamic State also threatened America in the video, warning them to cease its support of the Kurdish people or they will continuing beheading prisoners, including Americans. See the photos after the cut...

Senegal records first case of Ebola virus

Senegal has recorded its first case of the deadly Ebola virus disease. The Senegalese Health Minister, Awa Marie Coll Seck told newsmen today August 29th that the first case was a Guinean national who arrived Senegal recently. The deadly virus first broke out in Guinea in March this year

Late Citizens bank chairman's first son dies one year after inheriting his estate

A year after inheriting his father's estate, 38 year old Udensi Ifegwu Udensi Jnr, the first son of the former chairman of the now defunct Citizens bank, Lord Dike Udensi (pictured above) has died. He died few weeks ago at a specialist hospital in Umuahia, Abia state after suffering complications from a sudden undisclosed illness.

According to reports by City People, Udensi Jnr had been battling with some of his siblings as well as his father's second wife, Joy Udensi, over the control of his father's estate. The father had reportedly left his estate in his first son's care.

Ebola: LASAA mobilizes electronic billboard operators on sensitization

Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) in partnership with Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN), some leading electronic billboard operators in Lagos State and Nigeria's biggest advertising agency, Insight Communications Limited, is set to commence a public awareness campaign as part of efforts to curb the spread of Ebola.

This initiative supported by Lagos State Ministries for Health and Information, would involve electronic billboard operators enabling their platforms across Lagos for use free of charge in conveying messages about Ebola disease in strategic locations across Lagos State.
