"We won't plead for the 12 soldiers sentenced to death" - Senate

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, Senator Thompson Sekibo has said that members of the Senate will not be intervening on the death verdict handed to 12 soldiers for mutiny by a military court on September 16th.

Senator Sekibo who spoke with journalists after a closed-door meeting between the senate committee on Defence and the Service Chiefs at the National Assembly in Abuja yesterday September 23rd, said the verdict of the military court is meant to instill discipline into the military.

"No we are not, because the Armed Forces are established by an Act of the National Assembly. The Act spelt out categorically the conduct of the soldiers and the way they are to behave wherever they are. If you join the military, that Act is to guide you and your conduct. If you go contrary to any of the prescribed sections of the Act the punishment prescribed for the Act you violated will come on you. So the military did not just wake up one day and say that they are going to kill Mr. A or Mr. B."

According to the doc ... someone stole a bunch of luggage off an American Airlines conveyor belt, including a black nylon roller bag.Cops caught the thieves after IDing them with surveillance video.   The black bag belonged to Tridevel, but before she got it back it was inventoried by police as part of the case against the crooks.Guess what was inside the bag?  "A 3 breast prosthesis." BTW ... she told cops the prosthesis was valued at $5K.The boobs are perfect, but she's a little crooked.

APC lawmakers walk out of session in protest over $9.3m smuggled to South Africa

There was major drama in the House of Reps today September 23rd after APC lawmakers staged a walk out during a session in the House after a motion to debate the $9.3m smuggled into South Africa by two Nigerians on behalf of the Federal Govt on September 5th was denied by PDP lawmakers.

According to reports, the APC lawmakers had moved a motion through the the House Deputy Minority Leader, Ismaila Kawu to debate the matter on the floor of the House but the motion was stopped after a voice note called by the deputy speaker, Mr Emeka Ihedioha went in favor of the majority PDP members.

Defence HQ denies story on alleged release of Chibok girls

Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan denies using his friend Castro for ritual

Ghanaian star and former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan has been bizarrely accused of having a hand in the death of his friend, Ghanaian rapper Castro. Some people in Ghana are accusing Gyan of using Castro for human sacrifice ritual.

In July, Theophilus Tagoe, popularly known as Castro, went missing while on holiday with Gyan and other friends. The musician was presumed to have drowned in a jet ski accident, but his body was never found which led to the allegations against the striker, with his family constantly being hounded by Ghanaian press. The football star (pictured left) and his family have denied having a hand in what happened but the accusations are refusing to go away because of the lack of a body.

Soldier detained for molesting, shaving pastor’s hair in Delta

A soldier with 3 Battalion Effurun in Delta state, was yesterday September 22nd arrested by his command after he physically assaulted and shaved the hair of one Reverend Felix Omas, the General overseer and founder of Tower of Faith Ministries at Alegbor road checkpoint in Effurun, Delta state. Narrating his ordeal in the hands of the soldier, the elderly clergyman said;

“I was driving in my SUV, but due to the traffic situation, I boarded a tricycle. The soldiers stopped our tricycle as we were coming from Alegbor, forcibly seated me on the ground as one of them pulled a scissors and stroke three ugly cuts on my hair, saying my hair style violates their rules.”

He said he could not protest the action of the soldier because he was carrying a gun. The soldier's command got wind of the his unruly action and arrested him. According to a military source in the battalion, the soldier will be charged for improper action.

Ex-Governor Orji Uzor Kalu reportedly acquires most expensive private jet in Nigeria

According to Encomium mag, former Governor of Abia state, Orji Uzor Kalu, now has the most expensive private jet in Nigeria. The jet, which is the latest edition of the Gulfstream G650, is said to be worth about N12billion and arrived the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos on Thursday September 18th from New York.

Described as the fastest civilian jet in the world, the PJ boasts of a basketball court, 8,000 statute-mile range, some of the most sophisticated avionics rivaling nearly anything in the sky and uses two Rolls Royce BR725 engines. The main price of the aircraft is put at $65 million but other charges could have raised it to $75m. According to Forbes, the Gulfstream G650 has an order book of 200 customers throughout the world.

NTA reporter arrested for allegedly demanding N50m bribe

The Niger State command of the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday paraded Sampson Oghenedoro, a 28-year old staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) for demanding N50 million from the state government to stop him from broadcasting a story on alleged fraudulent activities within the government, PM News Reports.

Parading the suspect at the state command the DSS in Minna, the state of director, Dr. Larry Obiagwu, said Sampson was picked up by his men at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja while on his way to Minna to collect the said amount.

Sampson who works with the NTA Asaba, Delta state, as a producer/cameraman, operates under the name Fajiro Oliver, also works with Elomboh Communications, an online news medium.

Man allegedly rapes 20 year old girl and uploads her nude photos online

The Lagos state Police command has arrested 30 year old Olaniyan Oluwakayode (pictured above) after he allegedly raped a 20 year old girl at his apartment in the Ifako Ijaiye area of Lagos on Tuesday September 16th and then allegedly posted nude pics of the girl online.

According to Vanguard, Olaniyan, a native of Osun state, claimed the rape victim who hails from Akwa Ibom state was his girlfriend but the girl denied this, claiming that he was a random guy who had asked her out but she refused.

Women in Fadan Karshi in Sanga local government in Kaduna yesterday protested half naked when the governor of the state, Mukhtar Yero, came to pay them a condolence visit. According to the indigene of the state who sent the photos to Sahara Reporters, over a thousand people have been killed in the area and neighboring towns and villages by terrorists since March this year, and the governor never came to see them until yesterday when he showed up with hundreds of security personnel following last week's attack that left over 40 people dead.
