Governor Danbaba Suntai heads to UK for further treatment

Governor Danbaba Suntai of Taraba State who has been sick for a while, is returning to the UK for further medical treatment today, a few weeks after he returned from treatment in the UK.

Governor Suntai was involved in a plane crash near Yola Airport in Adamawa State in October 2012, in which he was the pilot. Since then he's been in and out of hospitals in Germany, US and the UK.

Chief Press Secretary to the acting governor, Kefas Sule, confirmed last night that the state govt had made all necessary arrangements for Suntai’s return for medication.

“I can confirm to you that governor Suntai would be returning to London for further medication and the state government is footing the bill for the trip which includes a chartered flight to the UK”, he said.

Former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), who left Nigeria on Sept. 6, arrived the country yesterday November 1st after undergoing surgery in a German hospital.

IBB arrived at the Minna airport by 2.50 pm in a chartered flight and was received by Mohammed and Halima, his children, as well as some government officials, his close friends and associates. He was dressed in blue kaftan with gray stripes, left the airport for his hilltop house, Minna in a BMW car and arrived at 3:15 pm into the waiting hands of four of his grand children.

I was really surprised. I didn’t even know anything about it. I didn’t even know our plane was out of the country, because we leased it out to a company in Abuja so that we would be able to utilise whatever comes out of the deal for the maintenance of the plane, because it is quite expensive. So we didn’t know. Even though we read and heard some comments some people made concerning it, unknown to us that our plane was actually involved. In all honesty, by the time we got to know that it was Papa’s plane, we knew that the enemies were trying to play some pranks. It is natural, because he is a symbol of Christianity in Nigeria. The only thing is I wasn’t expecting people to get really dirty as they did.

Boko Haram reportedly kills scores of Christians in Adamawa state

According to Sahara Reporters, Boko Haram men launched a fresh attack on Sabon Gari, a village in Adamawa state which is predominantly inhabited by Christians, in the early hours of today. Residents of the village which is on the border of Borno and Adamawa state, said several members of their community were slaughtered by the sect members as they were heading to church this morning.

Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, in a meeting this weekend, ruled out any specific date for the release of abducted Chibok girls but noted that their release was priority on government agenda.

“The true picture in Nigeria as far as insurgency in the North-East is concerned is that the war on Nigeria by the terrorists is still on. And, of course, from the onset of this crisis, government had indicated tackling the insurgency on three fronts: point of engagement, point of consultation and point of containment. And so, consultations definitely will continue: And don’t forget that because of the prolonged nature of the insurgency, a lot of activities are going on, both at the level of government and the level of the insurgents.

Would you like to study Beyonce and Rihanna as a course in University?

Come April 2015, students at the University of Texas, Austin ‎will be‎ adding a new course that will focus on Rihanna and Beyonce. This new course,  Beyonce Feminism, Rihanna Womanism, will not be available until Spring 2015, but the University has already released some details about the curriculum.

According to the University, “They will not be simply listening to Beyoncé and Rihanna for fun or even comparing the roles of Beyoncé and Rihanna in popular culture, rather, students will be studying how the lyrics, music videos, and actions of these women express various aspects of black feminism such as violence, economic opportunity, sexuality, standards of beauty, and creative self-expression.”

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau allegedly released a video on October 31st where he said a lot of things, including that all the abducted Chibok girls have converted to Islam, that they have all been married off, and that there was never a ceasefire agreement with the Nigerian Govt. Below is the full transcript of the video he released...

"Without wasting time, we hereby send a message to the tyrants of Nigeria and other infidels as well as their world tyrants as a whole in Hausa language.

South Africa goal keeper shot dead at girlfriend's house laid to rest

27 year old South Africa national team captain and goal keeper Senzo Meyiwa, who was shot dead at his girlfriend's home by unknown gunmen last Sunday October 25th, was laid to rest yesterday November 1st at the Heroes Acre Chesterfield cemetery - an honor that is usually reserved for outstanding figures from the struggle against apartheid.

About 30,000 South Africans gathered at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to bid the goalkeeper farewell. The funeral comes a day after it was announced that a suspect has been arrested and charged for his murder. He is survived by three children. May his soul rest in peace. Amen. Government finally declares curfew in Adamawa state

The Adamawa State government yesterday Nov. 1st declared curfew in every part of the state following the increase in insurgency activities in some parts of the state, especially in Mubi.

According to a statement released yesterday, the curfew is now from 5am to 9pm in every part of the state, and every resident has been advised to comply strictly with the directive.

Aminu Tambuwal drags FG to court over removal of his security aides

A day after his security aides were withdrawn by the Federal Government, the Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwal, has filed a suit against the FG before a Federal High court in Abuja.

Tambuwal filed the suit today Oct. 31st asking the court to declare that the withdrawal of his security aides while he's still the Speaker is unlawful and unconstitutional. He also asked the court to restrain FG from further infringing on his rights and privileges. There are reports they are trying to declare his seat vacant and organize a bye-election for the purpose of replacing him. Tambuwal asked the court to restrain FG, INEC, PDP and IGP from doing this. In the meantime, he wants the court to order FG to return his security detail pending the determination of the suit.
