APC rules out governor Fashola as vice presidential candidate
The APC has ruled out the possibility of the Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola as a possible running mate to any of the Presidential aspirants in the party.
According to a chieftain of the party who spoke on condition of anonymity to Punch, Gov. Fashola's religion has disqualified him as a possible running mate since the party would be fielding a Muslim as its Presidential candidate. The chieftain said the party was not going to be fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket hence the decision to drop Gov Fashola as a possible running mate.

Gunmen storm Damaturu this morning, attack Yobe university
Gunmen, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, stormed Damaturu in the early hours of today and began shooting and bombing the city. The attack, which was ongoing as at 7.30am today, has seen residents of the town scampering for safety.
According to reports, the mobile Police base which is in the outskirts of the town has been burnt down and many state institutions have also been raided by the rampaging gunmen who are now reportedly advancing to the main town of Damaturu.
They have also attacked some schools, including the Yobe State University located in Damaturu. The students have taken to the bushes for safety. There are also reports the militants are advancing to the government house with the aim of taking it over. More details later

The daughter of former governor of Delta state James Ibori, Ms Erhiatake Ibori has won the PDP House of Assembly ticket for Ethiope West constituency. Ms Ibori clinched the party's ticket during the state PDP primaries which held this past Saturday November 29th. Other contenders for the ticket boycotted the primaries making her emerge the winner.

Kano Central Mosque bomb blast victims in need of blood
According to the North West Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Authority NEMA, Musa Illamah, most of the victims of Kano Central Mosque bomb blast that happened on Friday Nov 28th are in dire of blood and consumables
"We went round the hospitals to assess the conditions of those who are receiving treatment and we were told that what they need most is blood and consumables. I spoke with the officials of the Federal Ministry of Health and and they have assured me that they would mobilize blood bank in Katsina to supply blood to the hospital" he told newsmenResidents in Kano have been trooping to the various hospitals where the victims are being treated to donate blood.

Officer who shot unarmed black teen resigns from Ferguson police force
Darren Wilson, the officer who shot and killed unarmed teen Michael Brown has resigned from the Ferguson Police force. Wilson resigned yesterday November 29th, five days after a grand jury decided not to indict him in the fatal shooting of Brown. Though he has been on administrative leave since the incident on August 9th.

Ex-Egyptian president, Hosni Mubarak has been cleared of charges of corruption and killing of hundreds of Egyptian protesters in a revolution that toppled him in 2011.
Mubarak ruled Egypt for 29 years. The 86-year-old Mubarak was convicted in 2012 of issuing orders to kill peaceful protesters during the country's 2011 uprising and was sentenced to life in prison. He appealed and was granted a new trial last year.

Emir of Kano, Sanusi visits scene of Central Mosque blast
The Emir of Kano, Muhammed Sanusi II who was out of Nigeria when the bomb blast at the Central Mosque in Kano occurred, arrived Nigeria today and went straight to the scene of the the attack to assess the situation.
During his 20 minutes visit to the blast scene, the Emir said with the way the attacks were carried out, it showed it was well planned and had taken the perpetrators close to two months to plan it.

"From all indications, they (attackers) have been planning this for at least two months. I have directed that the mosque be washed and cleaned and prayers should continue here. CAN condemns bomb blast in Kano, commiserates with Muslim faithfuls
The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN has condemned the bomb attack that took place yesterday at the Central Mosque in Kano where over 100 persons have been confirmed dead. In a statement released and signed by CAN President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the association said the attack on the place of worship is the greatest evil to human beings and to God almighty.
