54 soldiers sentences to death by firing squad for mutiny

54 soldiers including two Corporals, nine Lance Corporals and 49 Private soldiers attached to the 7 Division Nigerian Army in Maiduguri Borno state have been sentenced to death by firing squad for mutiny by a court marshal that sat in Abuja yesterday Wednesday December 17th. The soldiers were convicted on a a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy to commit mutiny.

According to the charge sheet, the soldiers conspired to commit mutiny against their superior at the 7 Division on August 4 at the Mulai Primary School camp, opposite AIT Maiduguri, Borno state.

Ngozi Nwosu reportedly escapes robbery attack

Veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu escaped being robbed by some hoodlums who attacked her house on Monday Dec 15. She's been telling everyone who cares to listen how God spared her life.

Armed robbers reportedly stormed the house she lives in Lagos, molested her neighbours and made away with their properties.

Ngozi Nwosu revealed that she was already waiting for her turn to be attacked by the armed robbers, but they didn't come to her apartment. She said she was not only shocked but also fell down on her knees to thank God for his mercies and protection for sparing her.

Last week, we all heard that ex-militant, Government Tompolo, bought 6 warships through his company, Global West Vessel Specialist Ltd. Now the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Patrick Akpobolokemi, says the warships were bought on behalf of the of the maritime body, NIMASA.

Another terrorist reportedly went into another classroom which had 60 students in it and blew himself up, killing most of the students. So far, 132 children have been confirmed dead in the massacre.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN and Senior Partner in the Law firm of Simmons Cooper Partners. Yemi Osibanjo is a professor of law and was the head of department of Public Law at the University of Lagos (1997-1999).

Petroleum Minister Dieziani Alison-Madueke appointed President of Gas Exporting countries forum

Nigeria's Minister of Petroleum resources, Dieziani Alison-Madueke has been appointed the President of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum GECF. Her appointment as president was announced today Dec. 16th at the 16th Ministerial meeting of the forum holding in the Qatari capital of Doha.

Only Last month, Nov 27th, she was made the President of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC.

Madueke was not present at the forum's meeting due to her negotiations with the striking members of NUPENG. She was ably represented by NNPC's Group Executive Director, Gas and Power, Dr David Ige and Nigeria's Ambassador to Qatar, Mr Shuaibu Adamu Ahmed.

Football star Thierry Henry retires from professional soccer

French soccer star Thierry Henry has announced his retirement from professional football after 20 years of playing for top clubs like Barcelona, Arsenal & France. He announced this on his Facebook page and said he will be returning to London to join Sky Sports as a football expert and ambassador.

“After 20 years in the game I have decided to retire from professional football. It has been an incredible journey and I would like to thank all the fans, team mates and individuals involved with AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona, the New York Red Bulls and of course the French national team that have made my time in the game so special. It is now time for a different career path and I am pleased to say that I will be returning to London and joining Sky Sports. I will hopefully share some of the insights, observations and experiences I have learnt over the years with you guys. I have had some amazing memories (mostly good!) and a wonderful experience.
