Governor Rotimi Amaechi says the PDP Governorship candidate in Rivers state, Nyesom Wike is a thug that can betray anyone, even his own mother, for money. Amaechi said this while campaigning for the state's APC candidate Dakuku Peterside in Port Harcourt yesterday April 9th.
"Nyesom Wike loves and worships money; he can betray his mother for money – nothing more, nothing less. PDP is afraid to come out for an election; they are used to writing results and the era of writing results is coming to an end. How can you see a man like a tout like Nyesom Wike and you will allow him to address you?

Beyonce is reportedly fuming at Jay-Z for having a secret phone to call his protégée Rihanna. Beyonce is said to have been rowing with her husband over the singer after she discovered the mobile which is reportedly for business purposes.
A source told Grazia magazine: "Jay has several phones, one of which he keeps reserved for Rihanna, supposedly to discuss business interests.

I will rather resign from politics than defect to APC - Niger State Governor

Governor Babangida Aliyu of Niger state says he would rather resign from active politics than defect from his party PDP to APC. Addressing some local government Chairmen that paid him a solidarity visit at the state Government house in Minna yesterday April 8th, the Governor referred to PDP members who have since defected as stomach politicians who are suffering from poverty, lack of morals and integrity
"Those who have defected from PDP to APC have clearly demonstrated that they are not principled and they are suffering from poverty, lack integrity and not morals and could easily be described as stomach politicians. For me, I will rather resign from politics than defect to APC or any other party. For principles of integrity, morality, we have chosen to remain in PDP. I heard people insinuating that I have dumped my party candidate for the APC candidate. It is a lie, I will never do such a thing" he said

Warri billionaire Ayiri Emami dumps PDP for APC. Spotted with Tinubu

Warri billionaire Ayiri Emami, who was spotted with the national leader of APC, Bola Tinubu recently, has dumped PDP for APC. The former staunch PDP member, who campaigned tirelessly for the party before president Jonathan lost his re-election bid, is reported to have shown his supporters his APC card at his home in Ubeji, Warri yesterday. He told his supporters to join him in the winning party as the PDP umbrella was leaking and could no longer provide shelter for them. He then asked them to vote for the APC governorship candidate in Delta, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.

PDP Queries Buhari’s 'Indifference' To Burning National Issues

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep concerns over the apparent indifference of the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari to burning national issues threatening the unity and stability of the country.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Wednesday said “while well-meaning Nigerians and the international community are celebrating the peace fostered by the patriotic action of President Goodluck Jonathan in conceding defeat, General Buhari and his party, the APC have been moving around the country instigating division, engineering crisis and heightening tension in the polity”.

Court orders DStv to suspend increase in subscription fees

In March, MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, owners of DStv announced a 20% price increase for all its satellite pay TV bouquets in Nigeria. Multichoice said the increase, which was supposed to take effect from April 1st, was necessary for them to continue offering good quality programming to its subscribers. But the increase is not going to happen for now after a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos restrained the company from increasing the tariffs.

The restraining order was given at the court following a class action suit filed by two Lagos-based lawyers, Osasuyi Adebayo and Oluyinka Oyeniji, challenging the increase. The judge said there should be no increase until the court meets on April 16th to hear the case.

President Barack Obama presents Jega with Certificate of Commendation

US president Barack Obama a few days ago presented a Certificate of Commendation to INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections on March 28th, which they said was free and fair, credible and the best election ever held in Nigeria.

The 'Certificate of Commendation' was presented to Jega on behalf of the US government by US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle. Entwistle said Jega's performance with the election was 'outstanding and worthy of emulation.'

White cop shoots unarmed black man five times in the back, handcuffs his lifeless body

Police officer Michael Slager, 33, opened fire on father-of-4 Walter Scott, 50, on Saturday morning April 4th after stopping him over a broken tail light. The police officer was arrested on Tuesday April 7th after the video was seen by police. He had initially claimed he shot Scott because he feared for his life, but the video shows Scott actually fleeing from him. The officer shot 8 times, three missed Scott, a US Coast Guard veteran. "It is in your interest that you vote for APC" - Buhari appeals to Igbos in Lagos State

Following the uproar that arose from the recent anti-Igbo comments by the Oba of Lagos, President-elect, Gen. Buhari has appealed to Igbos in Lagos state to bury the hatchet and vote for APC in the April 11th governorship election in their own interest, saying they will benefit from his government if they do so. According to him, all tribes are well represented in Lagos state and there is no Northern Nigeria or Southern Nigeria, we have only One Nigeria. Gen Buhari said this while campaigning for APC Governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode in Lagos on Tuesday April 7th.

Soldiers, civilians killed as Boko Haram attacks New Marte in Borno State

Many soldiers and civilians are feared dead after Boko Haram members struck New Marte community in Borno state on Tuesday April 7th.

According to Sahara Reporters, a security officer revealed that the armed sect members arrived the community in cars and sports utility vehicles, attacked a military base in the community, and killed many soldiers and civilian.
"They attacked as a heavy group, shooting at both civilians and soldiers. Then one of their Golf cars laden with explosives sped and hit one of our APC [anti-personnel carrier] tanks. The collision caused a big explosion that killed many people and seriously injured many more. Our soldiers killed a number of them. They were so many of them, ‎so there was shooting from all angles. The multiple explosions led to the deaths of dozens of both civilians and soldiers nearby,” the source said.

Even if I am the last man standing, I will remain in PDP - David Mark says

Senate President David Mark says he will remain a member of PDP even if it means he is the only one standing. In a statement he released to mark his 67th birthday yesterday April 8th, the Senate President said all those who are currently defecting from the party are fair weather friends. 
"If I will be the last man standing, I will remain in PDP, defectors are fair weather friends,”the statement in part reads

Oba of Lagos not APC’s spokesman - Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has finally reacted to the anti-Igbo comments made by Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu. Tinubu said the Oba is not a member of APC and so can't speak on behalf of the party. Speaking to Punch at a rally in Iganmu yesterday, Tinubu said;
“The oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties, whether PDP, APC or SDP. So, what did he (Ubah) go and do at the palace? To you Igbos, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the palace that pays for it? When we conducted an exam and a spelling competition, an Igbo boy, Ebuka, from Anambra, came first and he became the governor for one day.
