Warri billionaire Ayiri Emami dumps PDP for APC. Spotted with Tinubu
Warri billionaire Ayiri Emami, who was spotted with the national leader of APC, Bola Tinubu recently, has dumped PDP for APC. The former staunch PDP member, who campaigned tirelessly for the party before president Jonathan lost his re-election bid, is reported to have shown his supporters his APC card at his home in Ubeji, Warri yesterday. He told his supporters to join him in the winning party as the PDP umbrella was leaking and could no longer provide shelter for them. He then asked them to vote for the APC governorship candidate in Delta, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep concerns over the apparent indifference of the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari to burning national issues threatening the unity and stability of the country.
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Wednesday said “while well-meaning Nigerians and the international community are celebrating the peace fostered by the patriotic action of President Goodluck Jonathan in conceding defeat, General Buhari and his party, the APC have been moving around the country instigating division, engineering crisis and heightening tension in the polity”.

Court orders DStv to suspend increase in subscription fees
In March, MultiChoice Nigeria Limited, owners of DStv announced a 20% price increase for all its satellite pay TV bouquets in Nigeria. Multichoice said the increase, which was supposed to take effect from April 1st, was necessary for them to continue offering good quality programming to its subscribers. But the increase is not going to happen for now after a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos restrained the company from increasing the tariffs.
The restraining order was given at the court following a class action suit filed by two Lagos-based lawyers, Osasuyi Adebayo and Oluyinka Oyeniji, challenging the increase. The judge said there should be no increase until the court meets on April 16th to hear the case.

President Barack Obama presents Jega with Certificate of Commendation
US president Barack Obama a few days ago presented a Certificate of Commendation to INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, over the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections on March 28th, which they said was free and fair, credible and the best election ever held in Nigeria.
The 'Certificate of Commendation' was presented to Jega on behalf of the US government by US Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle. Entwistle said Jega's performance with the election was 'outstanding and worthy of emulation.'

White cop shoots unarmed black man five times in the back, handcuffs his lifeless body
Police officer Michael Slager, 33, opened fire on father-of-4 Walter Scott, 50, on Saturday morning April 4th after stopping him over a broken tail light. The police officer was arrested on Tuesday April 7th after the video was seen by police. He had initially claimed he shot Scott because he feared for his life, but the video shows Scott actually fleeing from him. The officer shot 8 times, three missed Scott, a US Coast Guard veteran. The multiple explosions led to the deaths of dozens of both civilians and soldiers nearby,” the source said.

Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has finally reacted to the anti-Igbo comments made by Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu. Tinubu said the Oba is not a member of APC and so can't speak on behalf of the party. Speaking to Punch at a rally in Iganmu yesterday, Tinubu said;
“The oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties, whether PDP, APC or SDP. So, what did he (Ubah) go and do at the palace? To you Igbos, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the palace that pays for it?
