Ijaw group asks Pres. Jonathan to grant Presidential pardon to James Ibori before he leaves Aso Rock
An Ijaw group called the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI, in Delta State, over the weekend asked President Jonathan to grant presidential pardon to former governor of Delta state, James Ibori, before he leaves as president of Nigeria on May 29th.
"Ibori should be freed. Hundreds of persons, who looted heavily from government coffers are walking freely in the streets. The continuous incarceration of one corrupt man among a million other corrupt citizens cannot change the menace of high level corruption in the country. Ibori’s imprisonment could be seen as a witch-hunt and such is highly barbaric and provocative and the Nigerian government must quickly do something about his matter. Despite the ordeals Ibori is passing through, Deltans hold him in high esteem and his great achievements while in office cannot be discountenanced.
There should be no sacred cow among political office holders. Ibori’s case is not different, he is a victim of circumstances. Release him and let him breathe fresh air and let other corrupt public office holders be tried as well.” National President the group, Mr. Austin Ozobo, in interactive with newsmen, said (Vanguard)

Photos: ISIS beheads and shoots more Ethiopian Christians in sickening new video
Two months after ISIS in Libya beheaded 21 captured Egyptian Christians on a beach, the ones in Ethiopia have done same. In a 29mins video released over the weekend titled 'Until It Came To Them - Clear Evidence', ISIS showed the beheading of at least 30 Christians they described as 'followers of the cross from the enemy Ethiopian Church'.
16 of the men were lined up and shot in a desert, while 12 were marched to a beach and beheaded. Ethiopian government condemned the act and called for the extermination of the terrorist group in the world. Meanwhile Europeans are getting scared now, because Libya is just a few hundred miles from the coast of Italy.

Obasanjo planning to extradite me to the US - Buruji Kashamu alleges
Chieftain of the PDP, and Senator-elect for Ogun East Senatorial District, Prince Buruji Kashamu, has raised alarm over what he describes as a plot by former President Obasanjo to instigate local and foreign security agencies to arrest him in Nigeria and extradite him to the US, to answer to some alleged drug-related charges. Recall that Prince Kashamu was the one who got the Federal High court order that banned the former President's autobiography, My Watch, which has now been vacated by the same court.
Prince Kashamu had accused Chief Obasanjo of dedicating some portions of his book on his alleged involvement in drug pushing and an allegation that he is a wanted fugitive in America, a subject matter he said had already been surrendered to a competent court of jurisdiction.

Reuben Abati responds to Punch Story - 'Pres. Jonathan demands N2trn election funds refund, audit'
The front-page story of the Sunday Punch of April 19 alleging that the Presidency spent a whopping N2 trillion on the 2015 General elections, and that a Committee of Five has been set up by President Jonathan to conduct an audit of how the funds were disbursed by party members and state officials is mischievous, false and embarrassing.
The President has not set up any committee as alleged in that story. It is also not true that the Presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party used state funds, or spent N2 trillion during the campaigns. The innuendoes are wrong-headed; the motives behind the story are suspicious.

Meet the South African king whose remarks started the Xenophobic attacks
Zulu King Godwill Zwelithi's utterances on March 23rd launched the Zenophobic attacks in South Africa and he had refused to apologize, even after finding out that his people have maimed, killed and destroyed businesses belonging to black foreigners. He's still insisting that foreigners should go back to their countries but tried to save face by saying attacking the foreigners is not how to chase them away. He wants the government to do it legally.
During a speech last month, Zwelithini called for the deportation of foreign nationals living in the country, saying it was unacceptable locals were being made to compete with people from other countries for the few economic opportunities they had available. King Zwelithi said "foreigners must pack their bags and go home".

'Why I’m not proud to call General Buhari my president' - Femi Aribisala
Vanguard columnist Dr. Femi Aribisala, in an interaction with Vanguard editors, explains why he is not proud to call president-elect, General Buhari his president. Quite interesting. Read below...
How did you come about your claim that INEC rigged the election for Buhari?
There are certain things that are interesting about this election. The first one is that it is one of the most keenly contested elections that we have had in this country. It involved more people. But 10 million less people voted than last time, which gives us some idea as to how true some of the figures we have been having before had been. But the question is: Where did the decline of 10 million come from? I discovered that it came disproportionately in certain areas than it did in others. And to some extent, if you look at the PVC distribution, you can project the election. It is because Buhari could campaign in the South, but the North didn't permit same kind of liberty for the president.
