Recall Nigeria's ambassador to South Africa and sue Zulu king - Senate tells Presidency

The Senate today called on the presidency to recall Nigeria's High Commissioner to South Africa and also file a lawsuit against Zulu King, Goodwill Zwelithini at the International Criminal Court following the recent xenophobic in some parts of South Africa.
At its plenary session, the Senate President David Mark asked the South African government not to stretch Nigerian government beyond its elastic limit
"My humble suggestion will be that South Africa should not stretch us beyond our elastic limit on this matter be cause there is a limit beyond which the nation will not accept what is happening in South Africa" he said

PDP leaders and members are not welcome to APC - Lai Mohammed

APC Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed says the era of defection of PDP members to APC has ended as the APC will not welcome them again into its party. Mr Lai Mohammed stated this in a statement he released today April 22nd.
"PDP leaders and members are falling over themselves shamelessly and swearing undying allegiance to the APC. Well, in case they did not get the message of the president-elect and our national chairman, we want to repeat it in very blunt terms: PDP leaders and members, you are not welcome in APC. Please stay in your party, but if as we suspect you cannot survive in opposition, then, take a walk, quit politics.

Pres. Jonathan to hand over power on May 29th, not May 28th - FG

Minister of Information, Senator Patricia Akwashiki says president Jonathan will hand over power on May 29th as against May 28th date earlier reported. Speaking after the Federal Executive Council meeting today April 22nd, Akwashiki said May 28th will be the last day ministries and parastatals will do their handing over of briefs while the President will hand over power to Buhari on May 29th
"In the council today, the discussion was still centered on transition. I have to make a little clarification because some people thought I said May 28 will be handover date. I never said that. I said May 28 will be the last day that we will have our handing over briefs by ministries and parastatals. I said from the 28th of this month to that date has been given to departments and ministries to submit their hand over notes.

Boko Haram commander killed in Borno forest - Defence Headquarters

A notorious commander in Boko Haram sect, Abu Mojahid, was killed by troops in an operation in Alagarno forest, Borno state yesterday April 22nd. Director of Defence Information, Major Gen Chris Olukolade revealed this in a statement released today April 22nd. The statement below..
“A notorious top terrorists commander, Abu Mojahid, was among the terrorists that died in their encounter with troops in the outskirt of Alagarno on Tuesday morning. The terrorists had staged a daring attack on troops, who were on patrol of the area. Meanwhile, the military operations are continuing in the form of offensive action on identified terrorists in some forest locations.

Xenophobia: Eight Nigerians signify interest to return home

Eight Nigerians have indicated interest to return to Nigeria following xenophobic attacks in South Africa. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria today April 22nd, Nigeria's Consul General to SA, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, said the 8 Nigerians are currently at the deportation holding facility
“I am working with eight Nigerians who have indicated interest to go home. They are presently at the deportation holding facility at Limbola, South Africa,” she said.

Abuja court terminates hearing on eligibility suit against Buhari

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja this morning terminated further hearing on two separate suits challenging the eligibility of General Buhari, to participate in the March 28th presidential election.

The Presiding judge, Justice‎ Ademola Adeniyi struck out the suits after the plaintiffs withdrew them through separate notices of discontinuance they filed before the high court. The remaining pending eligibility suit against General Buhari is the one filed by Ayakeme Whiskey. No date has been fixed for the hearing in the pending suit.

Bring Back Our Girls convener and a honoree of TIME magazines 2015 World Most Influential People, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili has called on the US President Barack Obama to do more in bringing back the missing Chibok girls, adding that if he can get Osama, he can get the missing girls. Akinwunmi Ambode sets up transition committee

The Lagos state Governor-elect, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has inaugurated a transition committee to ensure a seamless transfer of power to his government.

The committee is headed by the Deputy Governor-elect, Dr. (Mrs) Idiat Oluranti Adebule. Other members of the team are, Professor Ademola Abass, Mr. Babatunde Rotinwa,   Mr. Fola Olalekan Lasisi, Mrs. Rafiquat Onabamiro, Mr. Tunde Durosimi Etti, Dr. Femi Onanuga, Engineer Ade Akinsanya, Mr. Akeem Sulaimon and Dele Onabokun.

The transition committee is expected to begin work immediately.

I worked for the victory of APC - PDP Chieftain says

A chieftain of PDP and former Governor of Plateau state, Ambassador Fidelis Tapgun, yesterday revealed that he worked towards the victory of the APC both at the state and federal levels during the general elections. Addressing newsmen at his home in Jos yesterday April 21st, the former Governor said the imposition of candidates during the elections by some state governors was what made him take the decision to work against his party.
“I contributed to the success of the APC in the state because my party failed. My party failed to zone the governorship to the southern part and that was the greatest error made by the party. The APC fortunately zoned the governorship to the southern part and it won. Contributing to the APC victory was not because we were gratified, it was not hidden at all; it was not done behind the scene.

Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke asked who buys a private jet for $10million after she was accused of buying one for that amount while in office. "Who buys a private jet for $10million for goodness sake?". Mrs Madueke said while responding to questions bordering on the Petroleum Industry Bill asked by newsmen in Abuja today April 22nd. She also said she stepped on big toes with the reforms she brought but never committed any crime. What she said below...
"In that bill are all the reforms needed to tear NNPC apart, make it a National Oil company, an equity share company through transparency, accountability & responsibility and reduce corruption in the industry. We did all theses and we put them in place to reduce corruption, so for me to be tagged with various tags of corruption, $10 million jet purchases, who buys jet for $10 million dollars for goodness sake?

Gunmen kill Nasir El-Rufai's campaign coordinator in Kaduna State

One of the local campaign coordinators of Kaduna state governor-elect and former FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai, Markus Ishaya, was killed yesterday April 21st by unknown gunmen at his home in Atuku Kasa, Atuku Ward of Jema’a local government area of Kaduna state.

In a statement released by Mallam El Rufai's spokesman, Samuel Aruwan, he said Ishaya, who was  El-Rufai's coordinator in Atuku ward in the state, was trailed to his village by 2 gunmen and was shot severally.

Stop the violence or face our wrath - OPC threatens South Africa

The Oodua People's Congress, OPC. has given a 48-hour ultimatum to the South African government to stop the xenophobic attacks going on their country or incur the wrath of the group. At a press conference in Lagos today April 21st, the founder of the group, Dr Frederick Fasheun warned that nobody has the monopoly of violence.
"While the Nigerian government and the rest of the world seek a diplomatic solution to this season of madness, the OPC hereby warns that South Africa must end this rash of xenophobia within 48 hours. These ill-advised attacks are capable of bringing out the beast in the best of men. And we will not watch as fellow Nigerians are wantonly killed in cold blood. Enough is enough. South Africans must know that nobody has a monopoly of violence.
