Boko Haram: 214 rescued girls pregnant - UNFPA
Following the latest rescue of additional 234 women and children by the Nigerian Army from the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, indicated, on Sunday May 3th, that a sizeable number of the rescued girls were visibly pregnant, even as unofficial reports put the latest number of pregnant girls in one of the camps in Borno as at last Saturday at 214.
Giving this indication in Lagos, Executive Director, UNFPA, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, also disclosed that in the last one year, the organization had taken deliveries of over 16,000 pregnancies in the troubled North East part of the country.

The Major Oil Markers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) has assured the public of adequate supply of the Premium Motor Spirit to reduce queues witnessed in fuel stations in the country. Mr Femi Olawore, Executive Secretary of the association, gave the assurance yesterday in Abuja after a meeting with the Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
“You all recall that there were some issues about movement of products to the retail outlets, following the release of the last payment. The owners of the trucks have agreed to allow their trucks to start loading. As we speak, there have been loading. Those of you can call your friends in Lagos; they will all confirm that Lagos is getting better by the hour but because of the distance between Lagos and Abuja, it will take sometimes before Abuja gets to the normal position,’’ he said.

My attention has been drawn to a communiqué purportedly issued by some PDP leaders in the Southwest calling on me, the National Secretary Prof. Adewale Oladipo and the National Auditor, Alhaji Adewole Adeyanju to resign from the National Working Committee.
According to the communiqué, the resignation was to pave way for the dissolution of the National Working Committee as a fall out of the 2015 general elections.

Harrison Tare Okiri, famously known as Harrysong reconciled with his step mother, Mrs. Tonye Okiri at his father’s burial in Warri Delta state yesterday, May 2.
The burial, which turned out a carnival, also served as an opportunity for Harrysong and his step mother to bury their long hatchet.
