Edo state Governor Adams Oshiomhole has replied former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who denied allegations he made that she spent N2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account without authorization from members of the National Economic Council.

I have made this point that she keeps opening only parts of the pages and not the entire book. The logic of transparency is that the honorable minister must publish in full what is accruing to the federation account month to month and what is distributed to who?

Immediate past Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has responded to allegations that she spent $2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account without the approval of the National Economic Council. While speaking to newsmen after the inauguration of the National Economic Council on Monday June 29th, Governor Adams Oshiomole accused the former minister of spending $2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account without the necessary authorization.
"We looked at the numbers for the Excess Crude Account. The last time the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, reported to the council, and it is in the minutes, she reported by November 2014 that we had $4.1 bn. Today, the Accountant-General Office reported we have $2.0bn.

Central Bank of Nigeria has extended the deadline for the Bank Verification Number, BVN, registration to October 31st. The Apex bank had earlier fixed yesterday June 30th as the deadline for the registration. Hopefully more Nigerians would have completed their registration before the new deadline elapses

Liberia announces fresh Ebola case
Liberia has been hit with a fresh case of Ebola. According to the Liberian Deputy Health Minister, Tolbert Nyensuah, a 19 year old man died of the deadly virus. And they are saying it's possible he infected close friends or relatives before he died.
"A new case of Ebola has been reported in Margibi County. The person has died and was confirmed positive before death. He has been buried" Nyensuah saidFamily members of the deceased have been quarantined so as to stop the spread of the virus. Liberia was declared Ebola free on May 9th by the World Health Organization. A total of 11,207 people died from Ebola in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone since the outbreak began in December 2013.

FG orders probe on NNPC over unaccounted N3.8trillion
The Federal government on Monday June 29th constituted a four-man committee to probe NNPC over N3.8 trillion unaccounted for by the corporation in the last three years. According to the Edo state governor, who is part of the 4-man probe committee, investigations by the federal government show that NNPC made N8.1 trillion from 2012-2015, paid N4.3 trillion to the federal government and withheld N3.8 trillion which the management of the corporation have not accounted for.
The probe panel was constituted by the National Economic Council which was inaugurated by President Buhari on Monday June 29th.

Aisha Buhari's brother denies being arrested over N300m fraud
Younger brother to Aisha Buhari, Musa Yola, has denied media reports that he was arrested on the order of President Buhari over a N300 million oil block fraud. Sahara Reporters had published a report yesterday claiming Yola was arrested last week on the order of the President for defrauding a businessman of N300 million with the promise to help him secure an oil block. Speaking with Premium Times, Mr Yola said he was shocked at the reports.
“As we speak, I am in the President’s office and I was with him last night. I simply don’t know or understand who is behind these malicious rumours,” he said.
