Presidential committee set up to probe contracts in Sambo Dasuki's office indicts 300 contractors, recovers N7bn

 
According to a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Shehu Garba, a presidential committee set up to investigate contracts awarded in the Office of Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki from 2011-2015, have released their report in which they indicted 300 contractors and were able to recover N7 billion from some fraudulent contractors.

Footballer Adam Johnson was yesterday sentenced to six years imprisonment for having sexual relations with a child and now it has been revealed he was arrested last year after police officials saw extreme porn involving animals in his laptop and phone. He also regularly checked a site with the caption 'Nice Young Teens'.

Soldiers clear more Boko Haram camps, rescue 520 hostages

 
Troops of newly inducted 3 Battalion, 22 Brigade, in conjunction with Army Headquarters Strike Group (AHQ SG) and the Armed Forces Special Forces (AFSF), cleared out Boko Haram remnants in Kala Balge general area on Tuesday, March 22nd. The team also rescued 520 hostages during the operation.

Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of Muslim, Christian and Hindu refugees on Thursday and declared them all children of the same God, as he emphasised solidarity with other faiths at a time of increased anti-Muslim sentiments following the attacks on Brussels which killed over 30.

Photos: Saraki loses bid to quash corruption charges at Code of Conduct Tribunal

Senate President Bukola Saraki has lost his bid for the Code of Conduct Tribunal to quash the corruption charges filed against him by the Federal government. The Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Danlami Umar, today struck out an application by Saraki's counsel, Kanu Agabi, challenging the jurisdiction of the tribunal to continue with his trial.

The National Caucus of APC has said there is no vacancy in the presidency come 2019. According to Vanguard, members of the National caucus which comprises of serving and former governors, the National Assembly leadership, and selected members of the national executive of the party, stated this after a meeting with President Buhari on Tuesday March 22nd. A source at the meeting said;
"With Buhari contesting in 2019, those who have been squabbling will now have to queue up behind him and put the interest of the party ahead".

Senate, House of Rep to begin debate on PIB next week - Bukola Saraki

 
The Senate and the House of Representatives will commence debate of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) as from next week. Senate President, Bukola Saraki said this in Abuja at a Business Environment Roundtable on the economy hosted by the National Assembly yesterday March 21st. Saraki said this has become necessarily to gain speed in the consideration and passage of the PIB and to prevent dissipation of time, energy and scarce resources that was prevalent in the past.
