25 year old man parks his SUV, jumps into canal and drowns in Lagos State

A 25 year old man identified as Ajayi Kehinde, drowned on Monday April 4th after he parked his SUV close at the Oke Afa canal in Isolo and jumped into the canal. According to PM news, the identity of the man was known through the vehicle particulars in the SUV.

NNPC receives seven cargoes of petroleum products to ease fuel scarcity

As part of efforts to ease off the lingering fuel scarcity being experienced nationwide, NNPC yesterday said it has taken delivery of 7 cargo ships with fuel. The Executive Director, Supply and Distribution, Pipeline Products and Marketing Company, Justin Ezeala, made this known to newsmen in Lagos. petroleum
“I am happy to announce that we have received seven cargoes of PMS. We are apparently ahead of schedule in terms of our importation and what we do is that as these cargoes come in we send to Port Harcourt, Warri, Calabar. Of course most of it is kept in Lagos to distribute to major cities”he said

Kachikwu attributes uavailability of forex, pipeline vandalism, subsidy payments as reasons for fuel scarcity

In a short video which he posted on his Facebook wall, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Ibe Kachikwu, explained why the fuel scarcity has persisted this long. According to him, unavailability of Forex, activities of pipeline vandals and the reduction in subsidy payment had adversely affected the importation of refined oil into Nigeria by many of the oil marketers

In a recent interview with French newspaper, Le Monde, former Minister for Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said her fight against the fraud being carried out through the subsidy regime while she was minister, led to the kidnap of her 83 years old mother.

Okonjo-Iweala said she had asked former president Goodluck Jonathan to remove the subsidy regime after the massive corruption in it was uncovered.

National Assembly send details of the 2016 budget to Buhari

At the continuation of Senate President Bukola Saraki's trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal yesterday April 6th,  Michael Wetkas, a detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who started testifying against Saraki two days ago, told the court yesterday of how he, Saraki, was still collecting monthly salaries from the coffers of the state governor four years after leaving office.

"In the course of our investigation, we wrote to Access Bank for them to give us details of the salary account of the defendant. The salary that was coming into the account was N254, 212 as of 1 August 2007.

FYI Network pulls the plug on Kocktails with Khloe, the reality star responds

TMZ earlier reported that FYI Network has pulled the plug Kocktails with Khloe. The show, which features Khloe Kardashian, drinks made by the beautiful Sharone premiered in late January.

Sources tell TMZ that the network is labeling the move as an "indefinite hold," which basically means the end. The site adds that Khloé wanted to focus on her other jobs and had no interest in shooting Season 2, despite aprevious announcement that FYI had ordered 15 more episodes of Kocktails shortly after the premiere.

President Buhari to visit China next week

President Muhammadu Buhari will pay a state visit to China between Monday to Friday next week at the invitation of Chinese President, Xi Jinping. China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang, announced this at a press conference yesterday April 6th

NLC set to declare one day nationwide strike over electricity and fuel

Leadership of the Nigeria Labor Congress NLC say they will soon be organizing a one-day warning strike over the lingering fuel scarcity ‎and the refusal of the Federal government to reduce electricity tariff. NLC President Ayuba Wabba disclosed this while speaking with newsmen during the Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the congress in Abuja today April 6th. No date has been set aside for the proposed strike.

President Buhari Bans ministers and top govt officials from flying first class on official trips

In the face of the financial crisis being experienced in the country presently, President Buhari has banned all ministers and all top government officials from flying first class while embarking on officials trips. The directive is contained in a statement released by Festus Akanbi, media adviser to Kemi Adeosun, Minister of finance, yesterday April 6th.

‎The Federal Government in the statement said permanent secretaries, chairmen of federal government committees, chairmen and chief executives of parastatals and agencies are to travel on business class.
