"Jonathan’s Sure-P, a monumental fraud" - Bola Tinubu

National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu has described as a monumental fraud the SURE-P scheme operated by the Jonathan administration. SURE-P is the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Program established by the immediate past government to re-invest the Federal Government savings from fuel subsidy removal on critical infrastructure projects and social safety net programmes with direct impact on the citizens of Nigeria.

According to a statement he released yesterday May 19th, Tinubu said President Buhari acted right by removing subsidy from oil.

The Nigerian Army insist that Serah Luka who was rescued from Boko Haram yesterday May 19th, is among girls that were abducted by Boko Haram members on April 14th 2014.

In an interview with Premium Times, the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said the Army cannot be debating what it knows as a fact.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has sentenced a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency, Raymond Temisan Omatseye, to five years in prison over a N1.5bn contract scam. Omatseye was arraigned before the court today May 20 on a 27-count charge bordering on alleged contract variation, bid rigging and awarding contract above his approval limit while he was in office.

New reports suggest second girl rescued is not one of the missing Chibok girls

The second girl, Serah Luka, who was rescued by the Nigeria Military yesterday, is not one of the 218 students of the Government Girls College Chibok who were abducted by Boko Haram members on April 14th 2014, the Associated Press reports. Army spokesman Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman in a statement he released yesterday announcing her rescue, said Sarah is number 157 on the list of 218 missing Chibok school girls However, this seem not to be correct as a Chibok community leader Pogu Bitrus told The Associated Press that Number 157 on their list had a different name.

Egyptian military discovers wreckage of flight MS804 and passengers belongings north of Alexandria

The spokesperson for Egypt's military said on Friday morning that passengers belongings and wreckage from crashed EgyptAir flight MS804 had been found north of Alexandria.

The plane was en route to Cairo from Charle de Gaulle Airport in Paris on Wednesday when it disappeared from radar over the Mediterranean Sea, shortly after entering Egyptian airspace.

Olisa Metuh seeks court’s permission for five weeks medical trip abroad

PDP spokesman, Olisa Metuh, yesterday filed an application before a Federal High Court, Abuja asking for permission to travel to the United Kingdom for five weeks to seek medical treatment.

In the application, Metuh said his decision to seek treatment abroad was informed by the advice of a neurosurgeon at the National Hospital, Abuja, following the injury he sustained after falling from a chair at the national secretariat of the party on April 26th.
