NLC ends nationwide strike called to resist new fuel price

The Ayuba Wabba faction of the Nigeria Labour Congress has suspended the industrial action called to resist the new price of petroleum motor spirit. This was announced yesterday.

According to Channels TV, this came after an emergency meeting of its organs (the National Working Committee & the National Executive Committee) and the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians including APC national leader, Bola Tinubu. However NLC also announced plans to resume negotiations with Federal Government, with a view to resolving the issues that prompted the strike.

"Nigeria faces recession risk as GDP shrinks in first quarter" - Bloomberg

A report on international business news website, Bloomberg, claims Nigeria is faced with possible recession as the Nation's GDP shrinked in the first quarter of this year. Read the report below...
"Nigeria’s economy risks falling into recession after it shrank in the first quarter as oil output slumped and the manufacturing, financial and real estate industries declined. Gross domestic product in Africa’s largest economy contracted by 0.36 percent from a year earlier, the Abuja-based National Bureau of Statistics said in an e-mailed statement on Friday.

High Court orders FG, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to account for ‘missing N30tn’

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Goodluck Jonathan led administration to  account for N30 trillion said to have been missing or unaccounted for while they were in government.

Justice Ibrahim Buba had given the order in a Freedom of Information suit number FHC/L/CS/196/2015 filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

Labor members to meet today to review the progress of their strike action

Members of the Ayuba Wabba-led faction of NLC will meet today to review the progress of the strike action started on Wednesday May 18th over the increase of petroleum pump price. According to the General Secretary of NLC, Peter Ozo-Eson, at the meeting, the comrades will review the strike situation and determine the next line of action. He said a communique will be released after the meeting.

Controversial South African pastor, Penuel Mnguni, who has in the past given his members grass to eat, stepped on their body as part of his deliverance sessions and has had his church shut/burnt in the past over his odd behaviour with his congregation time, has struck again.

According to the Church's post on social media, the Pastor during his whole night service on Friday, demonstrated power by commanding a woman to turn into a white horse, and it happened. The lady started acting like a horse and the Pastor quickly took a ride on her. She was then commanded to return back to her normal state and when she did, she allegedly said 'she didn't see or feel what was happening'.

Uju Stella who is allegedly pregnant for Burna Boy, has reacted to comments made by his mother that they don’t have time for her. In an interview with Punch today, Burna Boy's mum was quoted to have said it is not a criminal offence for a lady to be pregnant for any guy, that if a girl claims she is pregnant for somebody and the person refuses to accept it, she is meant to look for his family instead of taking it to the public.

Burna Boy's mum also said her son is yet to say anything about the issue and they are only focusing on his music right now and don't know anything about any pregnancy, that girls always come up with pregnancy claims. National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu has described as a monumental fraud the SURE-P scheme operated by the Jonathan administration. New reports suggest second girl rescued is not one of the missing Chibok girls

The second girl, Serah Luka, who was rescued by the Nigeria Military yesterday, is not one of the 218 students of the Government Girls College Chibok who were abducted by Boko Haram members on April 14th 2014, the Associated Press reports. Army spokesman Col. Sani Kukasheka Usman in a statement he released yesterday announcing her rescue, said Sarah is number 157 on the list of 218 missing Chibok school girls However, this seem not to be correct as a Chibok community leader Pogu Bitrus told The Associated Press that Number 157 on their list had a different name.
