The Head of the Continuous Audit team of the Federal Government, Mohammed Dikwa says the Federal government has saved up to N50 billion through the audit of security agencies payroll and has been able to cut off 43, 000 ghost workers from its payroll.
Dikwa said this at a meeting between the Continuous Audit team, Minister of Finance and Heads of Para-Military agencies to discuss ways to clean up the payroll of the security agencies, in Abuja yesterday May 24th;

Court dismisses Olisa Metuh's application to travel to the UK for medical attention
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed an application filed by former spokesperson of PDP, Olisa Metuh asking for permission to travel to the UK for 5-weeks for medical checkup.
Metuh whose poor health condition caused his trial to be stalled last Thursday May 19th, had applied for permission to travel for treatment of an undisclosed ailment.

Switzerland to return $230m stolen funds to Nigeria
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, has revealed that there are plans by the Swiss government to return a non-contentious fund of about $230 million to Nigeria. Onyeama made this known while briefing journalists at a conference in Abuja to give a scorecard of the achievements of President Buhari’s administration in the last one year.

Oil Marketers assure Nigerians of a fall in petrol pump price soon
Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) have assured Nigerians that they will soon experience a fall in the pump price of petrol. Obafemi Olawore, the Executive Secretary of the association, stated this at a press conference in Lagos yesterday May 24th.
“I’m assuring Nigerians that pump price of petrol will soon drop as against claims that it will rise above the present band. Price won’t go up as long as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is bringing in products. We spend N165bn on salaries and allowances every month - Finance minister

Kaduna state declares 'tomato emergency'

'Human remains from EgyptAir Flight points to explosion on board' - Egypt forensic official
An Egyptian forensic official investigating the crash of EgyptAir Flight 804 says that human remains retrieved from the Mediterranean Sea, which have been examined, point to an explosion taking place on board the aircraft, according to AP.

Senator Akpan advocates special amnesty for goverment officials with stolen funds stashed abroad
Senator Bassey Akpan who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas and represents Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District, has called on the Federal government to set up a special amnesty programme for former government officials that want to return funds they looted while in office that is stashed away in foreign banks.
