Ecobank Nigeria fires 1040 of its staff

The management of Ecobank Nigeria has fired 1040 of its staff. A source in the bank says the job cut was initially pegged at 1400 but it was reviewed down to 1040. A statement by the bank's Managing Director, Charles Kie, states that certain jobs in the bank are being streamlined for a reduced number of people to do so as to bring about improved efficiency. FG scraps post UTME as JAMB pegs cutoff mark for admissions at 180

Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, today announced the scrapping of post UTME examinations organized by various Universities for prospective students who partake in JAMB examinations.

Speaking at the opening of the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria, Adamu said the Federal government had confidence in the examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), adding that there was no need for other examination to be conducted by universities after JAMB.

26-year-old Jamila Musa from Edo State who was on Sunday, May 30, attacked with acid in her home has accused her boyfriend's wife for her travails, the Nation, reports.

According to Jamila, who works with Flour Mills, Nigeria,  about 10pm, she heard a familiar voice at her door, saying he had a message from her boyfriend. The victim said she recognised the voice as that of the wife’s brother and that was why she opened the door.
