President Buhari will surprise Nigerians in 2017- Minister of Trade

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah says the President Buhari-led administration will surprise Nigerians in 2017 with the level of growth that will be visible in all sectors of the economy.

The minister said this at the 8th Session of the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment i Abeokuta, Ogun state yesterday October 25th.

"You will start seeing result at the end of this year and early next year. As far as I am concerned, next year is a year of results. All the work we are doing will start yielding results from this quarter. The level of delivery in 2017 will surprise everybody. President Buhari’s nominee for NERC chairman reportedly turns down offer, says he wasn't consulted

President Muhammadu Buhari's nominee for chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Prof. Akintunde Akinwande, has reportedly turned down his nomination. Akinwande who was billed to appear before the senate for screening and confirmation yesterday, failed to show up.

A source who spoke to the Nation said Akinwande turned down the nomination “because he was not consulted before the nomination was made”.

Prophet Ade Okeowo of Word of Liberty Evangelical Ministry, Ikorodu, Lagos, said that God revealed to him that prices of commodities will crash in no time.
He made the revelation in a chat with National Encomium, urging Nigerians to stop blaming President Buhari for the economic crisis, as he needs time to fix the country.

"That’s what God has revealed to me. Listen to me attentively; I am not speaking my words but God’s, Prophet Okeowo said. "Now, people buy rice N25, 000 per bag but God told me that we’re going to buy a bag of rice as cheap as N5, 000. A US dollar will exchange for as low as N150 and fuel will sell for as low as N30 or N40 per litre. That’s what God said will happen in this country."

Widow of the First Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alameisegha,  Magareth Alameiseigha, on Monday alleged that the treatment meted on her husband by his political party, PDP led to his sudden death in October last year. Speaking at his 1 year memorial service in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state, Mrs Alameiseigha said the killing of her husband started with his removal from office, arrest, trial and confiscation of his properties under the leadership of the PDP. Leadership quotes her as saying her husband's death was not in anyway caused by APC.

Former Nigerian Super Eagles World Cup star, Efetobore Sodje and his brothers have been charged with fraud offences after an investigation by the National Crime Agency, UK.

Efetobore Sodje, 34, Bright Sodje, 50, Samuel Sodje, 37, and Stephen Sodje, 42, were charged with fraudulent trading on Friday 21 October and bailed until 14 November 2016, when they will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Judges to declare assets before and after delivering judgment - NJC

As part of efforts to address the alleged corrupt practices of some judges in the judiciary, the National Judicial Council, NJC, yesterday issued a directive to all judges presiding in “sensitive and highly visible trials such as election petition proceedings” to declare their assets before they begin proceedings on such cases and immediately after they give judgement on such cases.

This directive will be reflected in the new code of conduct for judicial officers which is currently being reviewed by a 10-man Judicial Ethics Committee set up by NJC.

NNPC: Sale of petrol at N145 per litre is no longer sustainable

A New York grandmother says she spent $20 for a bucket of chicken at Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) last summer and was disappointed when she didn't get what was advertised. She said:
“I came home and said, “Where’s the chicken?’ ” Anna Wurtzburger said.  “I thought I was going to have a couple of meals.” She claimed that KFC's advert showed a “bucket that’s overflowing with chicken,” which was what she expected.
