Musiliu Obanikoro reportedly refunds N100.4m to EFCC, may regain freedom

Former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, has reportedly refunded N100.4 million out of the N785 million a company, Sylvan McNamara limited linked to him, received from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The Nation reports that Obanikoro who has been in EFCC custody since October 19th, may be released after the N100.4 million he refunded has been confirmed by the antigraft agency.

Exxon Mobil discovers 1 billion barrel of crude oil in Owowo, Bayelsa state

United States-based oil giant, Exxon Mobil corporation says it has discovered about one billion barrels of Crude oil at the Owowo field located offshore Koloama community in Bayelsa state. The Owowo-3 well with height of 10,410 feet (3,173 meters) and in water at 1,890 feet (576 meters) was drilled by ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria (Deepwater Ventures) Limited.

Saraki loses bid to stop his CCT trial

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed an application filed by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to entertain the charges of false asset declaration leveled against him by the Federal government.

Delivering judgment on Saraki's application today, Justice Abdul Aboki who led the five-man panel ruled that the appeal is unmeritorious and was then entirely dismissed. The judges unanimously ruled that the tribunal was constitutionally empowered to entertain and try him for the 16-charges of corruption and false asset declaration brought against him.
