FG bans importation of vehicles through the land borders

The Federal government has banned importation of vehicles into Nigeria through the land borders. The prohibition order covers all new and used vehicles. The Ban is sequel to a Presidential Directive restricting all vehicle imports to Nigeria Sea Ports only. The order takes effect from 1st January 2017.

Minister of Health advises Nigerians to stop eating Suya, Isi-ewu, Kilisi as they contribute to premature deaths

Minister of health, Prof Isaac Adewole says Suya, Isi- ewu, Kilisi and others are some of the biggest contributors to early deaths in Nigeria.

The Minister, who disclosed this while delivering a keynote address at the First Annual Black Tie Gala event organised by the Tristate Heart Foundation (THF) said that the unhealthy diet of Nigerians often lead to hypertension, which is the leading cardiovascular disease in Nigeria, resulting to stroke.
Adewole, noted that 1 in every 5 Nigerians is hypertensive and at risk of premature death.

FRSC denies claims that its officers now carry arms

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Monday urged the public to ignore reports going round that the corps had started distributing and mandating its personnel to carry arms.

Mr Bisi Kazeem, FRSC Head of Media Relations and Strategy, told newsmen that the rumour was being circulated by mischievous elements seeking to provoke disorder in the society.

Nigeria buys warplanes and helicopters from Russia, Pakistan - BBC

Nigeria has bought warplanes and helicopters from Russia and Pakistan following the refusal of the US to sell arms to the West African state, the Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, has said., BBC claims.

The purchase was aimed at boosting the military in its efforts to end the insurgency by militant Islamists in the north and oil militants in the south.
