Federal Executive Council approves N4.6b contract for purchase of fire fighting equipment

The Federal Executive Council FEC, yesterday approved a N4.6 billion contract for the purchase of fire fighting equipment. Speaking to statehouse correspondents after the meeting, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau, said the last time fire fighting equipment were bought in Nigeria by the government was in 1996.

Clive Baldwin, a Canada Research Chair in Narrative Studies who teaches social work at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., has interviewed 37 people worldwide who identify as transabled. Most of them are men.

President Buhari approves arms bearing for airport security officers

No case of polio disease in Cross Rivers state - Says FG

The Federal government has said that there is no case of polio virus disease in Cross Rivers state as investigations carried out so far, have shown that the suspected case is actually untrue.

There have been speculations that the disease has surfaced in the state after a toddler  at Ekpene-Eki community of Odukpani local government area of Cross Rivers state was noticed with a deformed leg presumed to be a characteristic of the viral disease

Police arrest suspected kidnappers who gang raped woman in front of husband in Bauchi state and threatened his mother

The Bauchi State Police Command in the past few days foiled a kidnap attempt, rescued a kidnap victim and arrested some suspected kidnappers, who raped a woman in front of her husband after which they threatened to kidnap his mother.

Two teenage lovers commit suicide over pregnancy in Kenya (photos)

The neighborhood of Marakwet in Kenya has been left in total shock after two teenage lovers ended their lives over her pregnancy. According to Tuko News, the pair killed themselves on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, after the boy aged 14 and his 13-year-old girlfriend reportedly drank poison after they found out she was pregnant. The 14-year-old boy was found lifeless at his parent's home while the girl was found at Kipkunur forest before they were taken to Kapsowar Mission Hospital for postmortem.
