Three 13-year-old boys and another aged 14 arrested for allegedly gang raping a schoolgirl

Three 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old teenager from Cumbria were arrested by police on Wednesday night over rape allegations of a schoolgirl in Cloffocks, Workington.

Arik Air condemns mob action on one of its managers by angry passengers in Lagos state

The airline has released a statement condemning the attack on one of its managers by angry passengers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport two days ago (Read here). In a statement signed by its Communications Manager, Ola Adebanji, the airline said the verbal and physical attack on its staff and the destruction of some of its properties by frustrated passengers, is unacceptable and will be legally addressed.

According to Adebanji, trouble started when the airline’s Lagos-New York flight was rescheduled from Wednesday to Thursday due to the shortage of aviation fuel.

Nigerian soldiers rescue another Chibok girl and her baby

One of the abducted Chibok girls, Rakiya Abubakar, and her baby, were reportedly rescued near Sambisa Forest, by Nigerian troops of the 27 Brigade around Alagarno area near Ajigin in Damboa Local Government area, Borno state earlier today.

A military source has confirmed this development. This rescue comes three months after 21 of the abducted girls were also rescued close to Sambisa forest. Over 200 of the girls were abducted by Boko Haram members in April 2014 at their hostel in Borno state.

Federal Executive Council approves N4.6b contract for purchase of fire fighting equipment

The Federal Executive Council FEC, yesterday approved a N4.6 billion contract for the purchase of fire fighting equipment. Speaking to statehouse correspondents after the meeting, Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazzau, said the last time fire fighting equipment were bought in Nigeria by the government was in 1996.

Clive Baldwin, a Canada Research Chair in Narrative Studies who teaches social work at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, N.B., has interviewed 37 people worldwide who identify as transabled. Most of them are men.

No case of polio disease in Cross Rivers state - Says FG

The Federal government has said that there is no case of polio virus disease in Cross Rivers state as investigations carried out so far, have shown that the suspected case is actually untrue.
