14,569 people including pregnant women tested HIV positive in Abuja in 2016 - AG. Secretary of Health, FCT

The Acting Secretary of Health, Mrs. Grace Achu-Odey, has said that 14,569 people  tested HIV positive in 2016. Achu-Odey, who disclosed this recently while briefing newsmen in Abuja on the activities of the secretariat in 2016, also said a total of 265 HIV sites were established in health facilities within the six area councils to ensure that those who are positive accessed care.

"And a total of 2,632 pregnant women who were HIV positive received the ARV treatment for prevention of mother to child transmission," said Mrs Achu-Odey.

Donald Trump on Monday, signed an executive order banning foreign aid or federal funding for any international nongovernmental organizations that provide or "promote" abortions. The policy which is nicknamed 'Mexico City' policy, established by former Republican President, Ronald Reagan in 1984, blocks federal funding for international family planning charities that provide abortions or "promote" the procedure by providing patients with information about it, including by offering referrals to abortion providers.

Gambia's President Adama Barrow names woman as Vice President

Ajaratou Fatoumata Tambajang has been appointed as Vice President of The Republic of The Gambia. Tambajang, a prominent pro-democracy activist was part of the opposition coalition that unseated long time ruler Yahya Jammeh.

She is touted as one of the main brains behind the formation of a coalition going into the December 1, 2016 polls. Her appointment was announced on Monday by Halifa Sallah, the spokesperson of President Adama Barrow at a Press Conference held in Banjul.

Kellyane Conway, Trump's presidential campaign manager and current White House senior adviser/counsellor, has revealed that Donald Trump, America's new president will not release his tax returns to the American public after completing his financial audit.

About 200,000 signatures have penned an online petition that Trump should release his tax returns but on Sunday, during an interview with ABC's "This Week," Conway revealed Trump won't release his tax returns.

A South African lady, Lizha Lee Mbuto succeeded in stabbing a man who broke into her apartment at East London and attempted to rape her. She was then rushed to Frere hospital where she was treated for little bruise she obtained on her fingers.
