Unknown gunmen on Friday morning stormed the Owerri High Court in a commando style, scared everybody off with gunshots and rescued a notorious kidnapping kingpin, Henry Chibueze a.k.a Vampire and two others.
The suspect is pictured in 2015 being paraded at the premises of Imo Police command, after his arrest following five years of unsuccessful manhunt. He was facing criminal charges bothering on armed robbery, kidnapping, murder, etc.

Nigeria retains it's 136th position in the 2016 Corruption Perception index
Despite the anti-corruption war by the government, Nigerian has retained it's 136th position in the Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index 2016. Nigeria is sharing the position with Lebanon, Myanmar, Guatemala, Kyrgyzstan and Papua New Guinea. Denmark, New Zealand and Finland were ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd least most corrupt countries which North Korea was ranked as the most corrupt country followed closely by South Sudan and Somalia.

The defense lawyer of Apostle Akan Weeks of Reigners Bible church Uyo, Barr Ini Ekpo was reportedly shot in his two legs in the early hours of Thursday morning, 26th January, 2017. According to reports, he was shot by a group of armed robbers at about 2 a.m after they successfully scaled through the fence of his home which is located at Assemblies of God drive off, Itu road, Uyo.

Hollywood legend and Harry Porter actor John Hurt, dies aged 77
British actor, John Hurt who garnered Oscar nominations for his roles in "Midnight Express" and "The Elephant Man," has died at the age of 77, his agent confirmed this morning. He died yesterday Jan. 27th in London just 5 days after his 77th birthday.
Hurt worked more than six decades in television, movies and voice work in England and the United States. He recently played a priest who counsels Jacqueline Kennedy in last year's biopic "Jackie".

Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, was a guest on CNBC yesterday where he was asked why President Buhari hasn't addressed Nigerians from his vacation in the UK, to douse the rumor of his ill health. Adesina while responding said:
"The fact that he is a president, he still has his rights. Compelling him to come out and talk will be infringing on his rights. The president will talk if he wishes to if he doesn’t wish to, nobody will compel him to talk. The truth is that the president is on vacation and he has given a date on which he will return to work" he said.
