Mum arrested for leaving her four young kids home alone while she vacationed in Germany

An Iowa mother's European vacation came to an abrupt end. Erin Lee Macke was arrested Thursday by Johnston police for allegedly leaving her four young children home alone while she traveled to Germany for an 11-day vacation.

According to a press release, police were called to Macke's home on Sept. 21 following a report that children had been left without adult supervision.

A 12-year old marriage was dissolved by an Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday. The marriage between a certain Francis Stephen, 45, and his wife, Ogechi, 36, came to a end after he impregnated his wife's sister. The President of the Court, Mr Adegboye Omilola, said:

“Since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the husband still claims he loves his wife.

Tom Price, President Donald Trump’s secretary of Health and Human Services, resigned after taking private and military jets at taxpayer expense while heading one of the U.S.’s largest government agencies.

Trump intends to designate Don J. Wright of Virginia to serve as acting secretary, effective at 11:59 p.m. on Friday. He currently serves as deputy assistant secretary for health.

Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, says he has suffered in the hands of those that twist information and spread fake news. While speaking at the 5th-anniversary lecture of News Express in Lagos On Thursday September 28th, Adesina said that the purveyors of fake news and the consumers of such news have continued to help in its circulation. According to the presidential media aide, those who spread fake news and also the consumers of fake news should be punished by law.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed Saturday, February 16, 2019 for the presidential and National Assembly elections. The electoral body made the announcement on Thursday, adding that the gubernatorial and state assembly elections and the Federal Capital will hold on March 2, 2019.

INEC also said it would release the timetable for Ekiti and Osun gubernatorial elections coming up in 2018.

Nigerian lady discussed suicide method with friend before leaping to her death

 A Nigerian lady resident in the UK, who suffered from depression for 4 years, committed suicide by jumping from a bridge after discussing suicide methods with a friend, an inquest heard yesterday.

"Extremely bright" Lara Nosiru, 23, had taken some medication and class A drugs when she plunged off Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol in January this year.  She went there with fellow Bristol University student Kasumi Kishi, who told police she had hoped to convince Ms Nosiru not to kill herself. CCTV footage shows Kishi pulling Lara from the edge twice before she gave up and left. Lara's mother is upset and thinks Kishi should have tried harder to prevent her daughter from killing herself.

Mrs. Franca Nwosu, a roasted yam seller based in Minna, Niger State, revealed that she put five of her children through university from the proceeds of her business. Speaking to Northern City News on Thursday in Minna, the mother of nine said that she started the business about 15 years ago.

"I started this business over 15 years ago and with the proceeds.I was able to train five graduates. So , as far as I am concerned, the business is booming, no matter the hardship in the country, people must eat, you cannot avoid food .”
