Nigerian lady explains why her mum walked her down the aisle on her wedding day

Instagram user, @vienstylez, had her wedding recently and her mum walked her down the aisle. In a post she shared on her IG page, she explained why this happened. Read below

"Oh! the grieve I got because I asked my mother who had me at the age of 15, to walk me down the aisle. I appreciate the idea of having a great dad walk the child down, but when my own father refuses to be present in my life should I killl myself ?. I found great joy in having a female marry myself and @ajpapa_1 and an even greater joy honouring @vienstylezmum for doing her best in creating a better future for me. Former NANS president, Dauda Mohammed, dies five minutes before reaching India for treatment (photos)

A former president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Dauda Mohammed, has died. According to reports, Dauda was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis and was en-route India for treatment at the Artemis Group of Hospital in Delhi, when he died five minutes before landing the Delhi airport. He was 38 years old. He departed Nigeria for India yesterday September 30th after Niger State Government released N14 million to foot the medical bill after an appeal by NANS.

Mohammed was NANS’ President from 2011 to 2012 and he attended the University of Jos.

May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode in his Independence message to Nigerians said, 'My father, Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, fought against British colonial rule and successfully moved the motion for Nigeria's independence in 1958'.

He continued to say, 'I am fighting against the fascists, the hegemonists, the supremacists and internal colonial rule and I insist on a restructured Nigeria'.

Nigerian journalist, Tijani Ado Ahmad, slumps and dies in the US

Nigerian journalist, Tijjani Ado Ahmad, slumped and died today Oct 1st in the US. According to his friend and colleague in the Industry, Jafaar Jafaar, Tijajani was in the US on invitation by the US Embassy in Abuja to tour the states and meet with Nigerian students studying there. IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, reportedly backs down, seeks dialogue with Buhari

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reportedly called for a dialogue with President Buhari in a bid to end the agitation for the creation of Biafra. According to PM news, Kanu through his lawyers, Ifeanyi Ejiofor and Amoebi Nzelu, has called for negotiation with the Federal Government to end the agitation for self-governance.

Two women had their ears cut off last week during an attack. According to reports, one Glory, married to a man named Godspower Ben from Bayelsa state, got separated from her and started dating another lady called Bridget. Suspecting that they were planning on getting married, Glory stormed Bridget's home on Wednesday, September 27th and during their fight, she cut off Bridget's ear. Bridget's family members held her down and also cut off her ear. Both women were taken to the hospital and are currently receiving medical attention.

Ruggedman, posted the photo of this lady breastfeeding her child above and said its indecent and unnecessary.  According to him, the fact that the lady's husband was the one who shared the photo online doesn't make it right. Read what he wrote below...

Nigerian man falls from fifth floor while trying to evade arrest during police raid in Malaysia (photos)

A Nigerian man on Saturday, September 30, fell from the fifth floor while trying to evade the police at Flora Damansara apartments in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

The unnamed Nigerian said to be in his 30's, who broke his hand and nose during the fall, was among 51 foreigners nabbed in the Ops Black Flora on Friday.

Update: Abducted Edo state Catholic priest regains freedom

The Parish Priest of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Iddo 2, Okpella of Auchi Diocese, Fr. Lawrence Adorolo, who was abducted by unknown gunmen, has regained his freedom.

Spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Moses Nkombe, who confirmed the release of the Priest to journalists in Benin, said he was released unhurt and without payment of ransom, adding that the police was on the trail of the kidnappers.

Oyo State Govt announces immediate closure of Agodi Zoo after lion attacked, killed attendant

Oyo State Government has announced the immediate closure of Agodi Zoo located in Ibadan, the State capital.

The government said the decision is based on the report received from the company managing the Zoo, AM & C, that one of the lions at the Zoo had accidentally attacked one of the attendants, Mr. Hamzat Oyekunle popularly known as Baba Olorunwa, who later died from injuries sustained from the incident.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Fani-Kayode stated that he and Fayose shared similar qualities saying that the governor “would make an excellent president and effect the necessary changes and the restructuring that our country desperately needs'.

Breaking: 9-years after, OJ Simpson has been released from prison on parole

Former US football star and actor OJ Simpson has been released on parole after nine years in a Nevada jail. He had been serving time for armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and 10 other charges over a 2007 confrontation at a Las Vegas hotel.

Simpson was approved for early parole release in a board hearing in July. In 1995 he was infamously acquitted of the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goodman.

My dear Nigerians, October 1st remains a special date for all Nigerians as this marks the day when we attained one of the most precious of human desires freedom. Over the years the country has gone through trials and tribulations, but October 1st is always a day for celebrations.

It is a day for thanks giving, reflection and re-dedication.
