The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru, has broken his silence on the recent letter written by the Minister of State for Petroleum Dr Ibe Kachikwu to President Muhammadu Buhari. Kachikwu in his letter dated August 30th, accused Baru of insubordination and awarding  $25 billion contracts without going through due process.

Scores were killed and about 15 injured on Sunday, when a petrol tanker lost control and went up in flames at Tafa Kagarko Local Government Area, along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

It was gathered that the explosions occurred after a tanker loaded with petroleum products dodged collision on the highway with a commercial Golf car, skidded off the highway and burst into fire. 17 houses were also destroyed in the inferno.
