Photos of the Nigerian man allegedly killed by South African police

A 25-year-old Nigerian man identified as Ibrahim O. Badmus, was killed yesterday October 10th in South Africa. According to reports, South African policemen raided his home at Vanderbijlpark triangle on suspicion that he sells hard drugs. They handcuffed him and used excessive pepper spray on him. He passed out and died due to suffocation.

This incident comes barely two weeks after a Nigerian was reported dead at Springs Town near Johannesburg in the hands of SA Police.

Alleged importation of Genetically Modified maize lands Nigerian company, Olam Group in trouble

The House of Representatives on Wednesday resolved to investigate the alleged importation of seven ship-loads of Genetically Modified (GM) maize by Olam Group into the country.
This was sequel to a unanimous adoption of a motion by Rep. Kingsley Onwubuariri (Imo-PDP), at the plenary.

He said the importation of 70,000 tonnes of GM maize into the country without the knowledge and clearance of the National Bio-safety Management Agency calls for concern.

Court orders permanent forfeiture of 56 houses linked to Diezani Alison-Madueke

The Federal High Court in Lagos today ordered the permanent forfeiture of 56 houses linked to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The houses, located in Lagos and Port Harcourt, were said to have been acquired by the ex-minister between 2011 and 2013 using front companies.

Five arrested in India over assault on Nigerian student

Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested five persons for allegedly beating a 27-year-old Nigerian national Ahmed and tying him to a pole after he allegedly tried to burgle a house in Malviya Nagar last month.

The shocking incident came to light after a video of the same went viral on Monday. The assault took place on September 24. Locals alleged that Ahmed was trying to steal from someone's house when he was caught.

'Wonder Bank' disappears with customer's money in Ogun state

Traders at Warewa community, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, have been thrown into pain and confusion after a ‘wonder bank’ operator, identified as Ngozi Adline defrauded them of their hard earned money. Adline, an Imo State indigene, allegedly swindled traders in the community out of over N2m.

According to Punch Metro, Adline operated under the name Link M Investment Limited, where she had two workers, Oluwatoyin Adebayo and Esther Adelanwa, who go out to collect money from customers. Adline fled in August 2016 with the N2m collected from some residents of the area.

Mentally challenged man murders his father over a bible in Imo

Father to a mentally unstable man identified as Emmanuel Ekweogu  has lost his life. The incident which happened yesterday, took place in Ugbelle, Imo State. Reports have it that the man was trying to leave the house with his mother's bible, but was stopped by his father, Ifeanyi Ekweogu.

Angered by the act, Emmanuel got a shovel and struck his father which led to his death.

The Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, has announced the appointment of Engr. Abdul-Akaba Sumaila, as the Acting Sole Administrator of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex. The appointment was announced via a statement signed by Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Mines and Steel Development. Olayinka Oyebode on Tuesday.

Sumaila replaces Joseph Isah, who retired from the civil service last month, having attained the mandatory 35 years in service.
