Ghanaian Government bans construction of new petrol stations

In the wake of the Atomic Junction gas explosion, the construction of petrol/diesel and LPG filling points, is to cease immediately until further notice, the Ghanaian government has stated. This directive formed part of nine safety measures outlined by the Presidency after a cabinet meeting.

A statement from the government noted that, President Nana Akufo-Addo has ordered the “immediate cessation, until further notice, of all construction of facilities intended for use as gas or petroleum retail stations.”

Yesterday, President Buhari granted audience to Igbo leaders led by Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, at the statehouse in Abuja. At the meeting, President Buhari reacted to reports that the region is being marginalized by his administration.

He informed the Igbo leaders that his government is not thinking in the line of ethnic divides as he is a president to all Nigerians. According to President Buhari, two Igbo sons, Geoffrey Onyeama and Okechukwu Enelemah both head two important ministries, that is, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Trade and Investments respectively.

Police arrest drunk man in Lagos who forgot his car at a beer parlor but raised false alarm that it was stolen

Officials of the Lagos state police Rapid Response Squad last Friday arrested one Jude, a resident of Anthony Village, who drank himself to stupor, forgot his car at a beer parlour and went home.
At about 3.30am the next day, he went to the police station to report that his car had been stolen from his residence. The police during its investigations, recovered the car where it was parked few meters away from the beer parlour.

All items in the car were still intact. He was detained briefly and counselled before he was allowed to go.

Rapper, Nelly's rape accuser says she wants the case dropped

The woman who accused rapper, Nelly of rape, has refused to testify against him in court and has asked for the case to be dropped. Her lawyer, Karen Khoeler says that her client asked for the case to be dropped because she feels the system has failed her and that she thinks because Nelly is a celebrity, nothing will work in her favour.

In a letter dated Friday, the woman's attorney said she regretted calling 911 and reporting that the rapper had raped her on his tour bus after a concert in Auburn, Washington, on Oct. 7.
