The commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Imohimi Edgal, this morning paid a visit to Oshodi motor park to hold talks with members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW in Oshodi and its environs, on how best to decongest the traffic situation in Lagos and tackle the menace of traffic robbery in Oshodi & its environs. Nine-year-old girls in Iraq could be forced to marry under new Muslim laws proposed by Iraqi politicians

There's a new Iraqi law that could legalize marriage for children as young as nine, legalize marital rape, and set women's rights back 50 years, human rights activists have warned.

The activists are calling on Iraqi ministers to withdraw a draft of the Jafaari Personal Status Law which would allow Muslim clerics to have control over marriage contracts. The bill includes provisions that would legalize marital rape, allow nine-year-old children to marry, and ban Muslims from marrying non-Muslims.

President Buhari has reacted to the military takeover of power currently happening in Zimbabwe. In a statement released by his media aide, Femi Adesina, President Buhari called for calm, peace and respect for the constitution in Zimbabwe. He urged all political and military stakeholders in Zimbabwe to avoid any action that may plunge the country into unnecessary conflict and impact negatively on the region.

According to President Buhari, “every attempt must be made to resolve all contentious issues by constitutional means in Zimbabwe to save the country from avoidable political instability.”

China donates over N2billion to rebuild Nigeria's North East

The Chinese Government has promised to commit 50million Chinese Rin an equivalent of N2.5bn as its contribution to the development of Nigeria's North East. Dr. Zhou Pingjian, the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria revealed this in Damaturu the Yobe state capital when presented relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.

He also added that his government and people are so concerned with the travails going on in the area and pledged that more will be done to uplift the living conditions of the people from the region.
