President Buhari jets off to Jordan on December 2nd to participate in Counter-Terrorism meeting

Between December 2nd - 3rd, 2017, President Muhammadu Buhari will join other Heads of State in Aqaba, Jordan, to review strategies in fighting terrorism, and reinforce joint security structures that will be more proactive in preventing attacks.

Tagged, AQABA RETREAT, the meeting, hosted by His Majesty, King Abdullah II of Jordan, is expected to be attended by West African Heads of State, representatives of governments of 48 countries and a number of key Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

President Muhammadu Buhari makes his presence felt at the 5th AU-EU summit

During the just concluded 5th AU-EU summit held in Abidjan November 28-29, President Buhari demonstrated the pivotal role Nigeria plays in continental affairs and in the relationship that Africa must forge with other regions of the world.

According to Garba Shehu, SSAP (Media and Publicity), discussions  ???????at the conference were productive and frank.  This was due in no small measure to the interventions of President Buhari.  Others who attended the summit described President Buhari’s contributions as cogent, timely and highly perceptive.

Rapper, DMX pleads guilty to tax evasion, faces up to five years in prison

DMX (real name, Earl Simmons) struck a plea deal in his tax evasion case Thursday, but could still serve up to five years in prison.

According to TMZ, the rapper pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion in New York, thereby making sure he won't be spending the 44 years in jail that he formerly faced.

Union Bank lays claims to the cash found in the Ikoyi flat recovered by EFCC

Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has claimed ownership of Flat 7B in Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, where large sums of money were found. The sums found in the flat, which were forfeited to the Federal Government on June 6, are $43,449,947 (about N13billion), N23, 218,000 and £27,800 (about N10.6milion).

In its claim application that is still pending in court, the bank has asked the Federal High Court in Lagos to vacate an interim order that has forfeited the flat to the Federal Government. The court had on November 9, ordered the flat’s temporary forfeiture to the Federal Government.

Libya Slavery: VP Yemi Osinbajo meets NEMA, NAPTIP, National Commission For Refugees

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, held a meeting in Abuja to address the plight of Nigerians involved in human trafficking in Libya and other places enroute Europe.

In attendance were were the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Ade Ipaye; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, the Justice Minister and Attorney general of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, The Director-General of the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Dame Julie Okah-Donli, the Federal Commissioner for the National Commission For Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Mrs Sadiya Umar-Farouk and the Minister of State Foreign Affairs, Hajia Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

Beautiful model found dead with throat slashed in Jamaica

A 26-year-old Queens woman looking for work in Jamaica’s tourism industry was found dead with her throat slashed on the side of a rural road in the island nation. The body of Desiree Gibbon was discovered Sunday morning in the small northwestern town of Anchovy on a road called Long Hill about 4 miles from Montego Bay.

Residents spotted the blood-caked body in the bushes and alerted the police, according to the LoopJamaica.com website.

Video: Another batch of 153 Nigerian migrants return from Libya amidst ongoing slave trade crisis

Last night, 30th November 2017, another set of 153 Nigerian migrants, including men, women, and children from Libya aboard a Libyan chartered flight at about 9:15pm, just two days after 239 Nigerian were returned following the ongoing slave trade crisis.

The return was facilitated by the Federal Government Of Nigeria, including the IOM and it was funded by the European Union project.

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers presents N1.3 trillion Budget for 2018

Cross River state governor, Ben Ayade has presented a budget of N1.3 trillion for the 2018 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for deliberation and passage.

Ayade, who presented the budget on Thursday in Calabar, said that the proposal was designed to add value to the socio-economic development and well being of the people of the state. He tagged the budget as “Budget of Kinetic Crystallisation’’ and said it was meant to crystallise what the state had achieved in the past two years of his administration.

Russell Simmons is "stepping aside" from his companies in the wake of numerous sexual assault accusations leveled against him.

The founder of Def Jam and Phat Farm was accused by actress Jenny Lumet of rape. The screenwriter detailed how the music mogul got her to his apartment by force and intimidation. Prior to that, he was accused by former model Keri Claussen Khalighi of sexually assaulting her when she was 17. In response, Simmons released a statement today apologizing to Lumet and also revealed he will be stepping aside from his companies.
